Amarillo can be nice with rye, if you can get it.

I've done a citra rye saison I really enjoyed, so I think a citra rye ipa might work. Centennial would as well IMHO.

Amarillo, Aussie topaz, Aussie Galaxy or NZ Nelson would all make nice single hop rye beers.

I think Belma was made for rye. If you don't have any, Centennial, Amarillo or Calypso would also be very nice.

I think rye really works well with the grapefruity and or dank hops. (cascade, centennial, Amarillo, Citra, Simcoe, galaxy). I think if you want a subtle rye character go with 10% rye malt or for more pronounced rye 15-20%. I have found that heavy hopping can drown out the rye character when the beer is fresh so I think 15-20% is where it's at for a rye ipa in my opinion.

Getting some rice hulls is probably a good idea for a higher rye malt % I should have mentioned.

One of my house beers is an all cascade Rye IPA. It's a family favorite.

Did a Galaxy Rye IPA recently that turned out real well. Bittered with Warrior, but used galaxy exclusively late.

I am really thinking about doing heavy on the cascade in my own RyePA type beer, either all cascade or just bittering (belma or magnum) and cascade.

    10 gallons:
18 pounds 2 row pale malt
    6 pounds rye malt
    1.5 pounds caravienne
Mash at 152 for around an hour
    Hops: All Cascade, (5.65 AA)

    3 ozs 60 minutes
    2 ozs at 20, 10, 5 and flameout
Optional dry hopping with 2 ozs ( I usually don't)
Notttingham yeast, ferment 60-62F internal temp.
Use whatever yeast you like best for your IPA's, I like Nottingham because I can ferment very cool and clean with it.

    AlCaponeJunior and utahbeerdude like this.

Thanks! I've a ton of homegrown Cascades, so I may have to try this. BTW, what is your OG?

It should be around 1.068-1.070, depending on how well my brewing session goes that particular day.

Thanks! I might give something like this a try. My next 4 batches are going to be IPAs of one sort or another.
