New email from Smog City Brewing:

Join us! Saturday, May 18th! 12-9pm

Smog City is pleased to announce the official opening of our taproom. Join owners, Laurie and Porter Saturday, May 18th from 12-9pm at Smog City Brewing's new facility to celebrate the end of construction and the beginning of BEER. What better way to celebrate National Craft Beer Week than by welcoming a new craft brewery to Los Angeles!

    Location:
    Smog City Brewery and Taproom
1901 Del Amo Blvd Ste B
    Torrance, CA 90501

We will be tapping several beers brewed in the new facility as well as some cellared beers from our time at Tustin Brewing Co. Quercus Circus and Bourbon O.E. are among the specialty beers slated to be tapped for the opening. Please be aware that there are limited quantities of these beers available.

First come, first served. All beers $6(pour sizes vary) and two flight options available. Sorry, no samples. We're expecting a nice turnout and this will help keep lines to a minimum!

    Looking forward to it!
    Laurie + Porter

    Soooooo excited!!

Smog City is cut above the rest in the LA brewery scene. Bourbon OE is excellent, and Groundworks is flat-out one of the best coffee porters in the country. Looking forward to checking out the public space.

Agreed. Wish Smog City could be bankrolled like GR...imagine the possibilities. Groundworks at Dodger Stadium and LAX would make me a very happy man.

I tried their Smog City XPA which was decent. I'm interested in trying their other brews. Didn't a brewer from Golden Road left to join Smog City?

If they were bankrolled like GR then they never would have stumbled through the massive growing pains that come with serving the LA market good beer. No pain no gain brother!

Strand, Dudes', Smog City. What's happening in Torrance right now is a damn good thing.

A lot of good beers coming out of Torrance, South Bay & in particular LA/OC and yes Riverside area. I am planning on being there for the grand opening early as I've got a concert to go to that evening at the Honda Center.

So how many made it out to the grand opening of Smog City in Torrance on Saturday?

I got there between 1 and 115. Already packed with around 20 in line waiting for their beers. Floor was packed. A few tables and chairs. Most everyone was either in line or standing with their glasses in hand. I thought they were going to have more of their beers on tap. But they had like 6 or 7 on tap. A good selection. Amarilla Gorilla was good. Got me a growler of the ipa to take home. A very cool growler. Nice art work on it. Price of growler was average at $6. But the fill of Amarilla Gorilla and the others were $20 for the fill. Now I thought Beachwood BBQ & Brewing growler fill were high. Not. Now Beachwoods beers are definatelly better than Smog City's beers and you have a lot more selections. I don't know if it was because of the grand opening the prices were high. It can't be because of the rent in the area of Torrance. I think Porter mentioned that he was looking at opening up in LA but the rent was too high. So he chose Torrance instead. So I bought me a growler because it was one of the coolest art work I've seen on a growler for six bucks. The Amarilla Gorilla was good too. But to be going back and getting a refill every week? Time will tell. Overall a very nice opening for LA's newest (2 years old) brewery. There is a future for Smog City here in the LA/OC craft beer scene. Looking forward to the Dude's opening this year.

It was really packed there Sat around 2:00. 15 min line for pours/growler fills.
Got a growler of the Groundworks. Prices a tad high but the growler itself is so cool I would've paid 15-20 for it alone. I'm sure it will be well-used. Amarilla Gorilla was great, and the Bourbon OE was fantastic.
Exciting times in the South Bay with Strand and now Smog City, plus Dudes opening a taproom in Dec or so from what I heard. Plus Abigaile and Monkish.

I had no idea they brewed Bourbon OE. Have had it a few times at TBC and it is fantastic. Next time I'm up in the South Bay I'll have to check out the new taproom.

Anyone up that way coming down to SD this weekend?
Would like a growler filled for a tasting on Sunday but won't have the chance to get up there in the next 2 days.
