Which total wine? Gonna stop at my local one on way home and would like to let one sit for a year or so
5 Golden Rings is also available at some locations for $4. It's a good price for an extra or to cellar for the vertical.
I don't know why this beer doesn't get more love. I've rated 33 beers from The Bruery and Smoking Wood has received the highest score. I love it and hope to try the bourbon version someday. Is that still around on shelves or was it brewery only?
Went to total wine on my way home. They had smoking wood and reueze for 9.99. Just couldnt pull the trigger.
I've yet to purchase either of them, but continue to watch them sit on the shelf. When Sour in the Rye drops to $10 it will be a different story.
Ive had both of them and reueze is not bad at all. the smoking wood is meh. Might buy one of each in a week sit on them. I doubt sour in the rye will make it that low
Wow, those prices are crazy. Reueze is available here but ranges from $25-30. I'm not a fan of the Bruery sours I've had so far(except for Oude Tart batch 1) so I had to pass. Thanks to a very generous BA, it looks like I'm going to be able to try the bourbon smoking wood in a few weeks!
You couldn't pay me enough to drink Smoking Wood or 5GR. There's a reason supply/demand has driven their price this low. If anyone thinks this is a good deal, I'll sell you my sweaty camping drawers and a few cans of cactus cooler for only $3, which will give you the same experience at an even better price.
Is there anybody neutral on Smoking Wood? People seem to really like it or hate it. I figure that is mostly the smoked beer effect, but I'm wondering if anybody that usually likes the smoke hates the beer, or vice versa?
I have a friend who usually loves smoked porters, but is just "meh" on Smoking Wood - he doesn't find it offensive the way some people do, but he likes it far less than I would expect based upon his general taste.
I typically do not like smoked beers but was fairly neutral with Smoking Wood. I thought the barrel aging added a nice sweetness to cover up the smoke and keep it from overwhelming. But I didn't exactly love it and won't be buying any even at $10.
Bourbon was RS only afaik. I actually preferred rye, but don't hate the beer like a lot do... but I like smoke in my beers (and scotch!).
