I went to the store down the street and saw they had two bottles of Sierra Nevada Bigfoot 2010. I'm not a fan of barelywines, so I passed.

Those bottles have any trade value?

Pretty common to have old Bigfoot. May not have much trade value but drinking value is off the charts!

    Rule of thumb...

If you live in California or Illinois chances are you will never stumble upon anything really rare and in demand on the shelves months after it was distributed.

Put a FT up and find out.

Seriously tired of "Does <X> have any value?"

These threads have to stop. Just Stop. People worried so much about trade value is what created all the complaints of the trading in the past few years. Just stop guys, stop it.

I really wish the site advocated $4$ trading of similar rarity. So in this case the user should expect to get off the shelf beer of a similar age in trade for them. If people want to trade based on different criteria then they can either clearly state that in their ISO post or they can work it out in BM's.

OP - 2 years isn't that old for any beer, especially Bigfoot. It moves slow in most stores, and SN likely produces 50,000++ bottles of it a year. (just spit-balling on the low end) If you're that concerned that you missed an opportunity then buy the bottles and age them yourself for 12-15 more years. By then they'll likely be worth something to someone.

I hear ya man. It's just been like every single beer has a "what's it worth", "trade value", "what does it take" thread behind it. I don't care about $4$ all that much. But shit, it feels as like any beer people pick up at the corner craft beer shop on a busy afternoon, that they automatically are worth an astronomical amount. What I say to all these guys is that I am all for trade whatever for whatever, just post it, don't sit here and ask trying to justify your "it must be worth something crap", when it isn't. Make an offer, and see what happens.

They might have value if you trade internationally.

Is it a rare or hyped barrel-aged imperial stout? Then no.

I see what you're saying, but maybe the OP doesn't want to "take" anyone just as much as he doesn't want to be "had" by anyone.

I think the whole pseudo-altruistic "Hey man, I'm not into material things...money doesn't matter, it's just all about the beer man" [/hippie voice] is kinda stupid.

This is from a total noob's perspective though too, so I may be way off base(and doesn't mean I havn't thrown in good extras in my few trades).
