Interesting partner, considering none of Evil Genius's packaged beers are lagers. Also that they are known for jokey juvenile beer names with non-traditional ingredients.

Well that's good to hear. I'll be content to look for Oktoberfest on draft and hope for Pils and Fat Dog Stout in cans.

I saw this post in the Hill Farmstead thread:
Reading between the lines, I would interpret this as Monk's Cafe either having internal strife about selling Hill Farmstead beer, or looking to head off any criticism of it.

Does anyone know if this is the first time Monk's has had Hill Farmstead beer since the Shaun Hill allegations (and subsequent non-apology) last year?

I don’t read any of the same strife into that… they’ve had Hill on at various points in time since then (maybe not “more often than not, but probably close to 50/50 at least”).

okay, if they've had HF on tap regularly then maybe more they are worried about potential outside criticism? Seems like more than a coincidence that a special event for a brewer accused of being a misogynist (creep? I don't know what brief adjective is appropriate) is donating all the proceeds to a women's charity.

Either way, it seems like Shaun Hill has escaped the toxic reputation that Jean Broillet has received, is it just because he makes better beer and so people gave more leeway? It's not like the history of Hill's public statements were any less conceited than Broillet's were. Sort of like how the more talented an actor/artist/musician/athlete is, the more negative attributes people are willing to ignore.

You could be right about Monk's take on the situation... I have no clue, I just didn't read it the same way you did, especially given that they've been happy to tap Hill stuff (and I believe have highlighted their Hill tappings on social media).

Given that they've promoted Hill pretty recently and regularly do charity giveaways like this one, my take is that you're simply reading into it too much (again, I could be mistaken).

And I can only speak for myself, but I don't treat the Broillet and Hill situations as equal -- it has nothing to do with one brewing better beer than the other, but with being far more reluctant to support Tired Hands given their accusations than I am to support Hill given his accusations.

I'm probably just not in the know in this regard, I'm just a little surprised Monk's will be selling " take away" bottles... been a while since I been to the city I guess...

Brief update... I saw today that they made yet another post dedicated to all the Hill they have on-tap and available to-go, with a photo of Hill Farmstead with a rainbow over it.

I totally understand your original wondering, but think it's probably safe to say that they aren't embarrassed of / critical of carrying Hill's offerings, here.

I have had several meals at Sterling Pig and my experiences is that the food can be 'hit or miss'. In contrast the beers have consistently been of high quality (even the styles which are not my favorites).

At my last visit to Sterling Pig my wife and I just had a couple of beers there and then traveled into town (Media) to get pizza at Pinocchio's (which has an outstanding selection of packaged beers but a bit pricey).

    Cheers!

Has anyone had Forest & Main's Forever Nothing Pub Ale? I just added it and posted a review, but I wasn't sure about the right style categorization.

I am curious how others would classify this beer?

    Tom,

Have you had any of their beers from 'preliminary' batches? Do they have a 'theme' to their brewing (e.g., German style, Belgian style,...)?

    Cheers!

The only "theme" I could determine was the focus on IPAs, but most places are like that these days. They started off with 9 beers. the afore mentioned Vienna, Pils, grissette, and hazy "IPA". They also had a Hefeweizen, a fruited sour and IPAs. Might be missing something. Limited food menu with an emphasis on pizzas. I typed out some more info in the Mid-Atlantic Breweries in Planning forum.

Anyone ever been to Conshohocken Brewing before or have thoughts to share on their KOP location/beer? My wife won a (pretty sizable) gift card there randomly some time ago, and we somehow haven't made the time to visit... but obviously I'd like to make the trip there soon.
