Meanwhile, the SMART serious beer drinkers are home drinking in their recliners at a third of the price.

Enjoy By is given a date of 35 days, so it will still taste pretty good for at least a few more weeks. I have no qualms about buying it a bit "old."

I must admit this is the first batch I saw multiple times on the shelf and passed. A sixer of these is a commitment at the 9.4% ABV mark. Rather have a few 6 to 7 percent juicy ipas (i.e. NE style).

I agree. I do however, just on principle, feel that if you are labeling and marketing a product in this manner, either pull it or knock half off the price.

Our first few deliveries (late 2012?) of Enjoy By at the store would sell out before the Enjoy By date. I'm talking 15 cases of bombers here. Our last 2-3 releases wouldn't sell out. EB 2/14/18 sold two 6-packs and we rec'd only one case. The latest 4/20 release sold one 6-pack and I ordered 2 cases because, you know, Vermont, 4/20? That's it for that beer, no more. Oh, our Stone distributor's salesman marked the unsold beer for return on 4/23 and they were picked up on 4/24 with full credit. Cheers!

Yeah, I agree that it should be discounted.

They kind of fudged themselves giving a 37 day window (I believe that's what it is) to sell from brewing. They could have pushed it to 45-50 and no one would have blinked. They'd still get credit for putting their best by date on the label and being honest about the age of the beers. Decent beer though, I buy it from time to time

I'm at work right now and we have six 6 packs of it left. Bummer, its an awesome beer but like previously said, hard to push on people at $18/6 pack

I think it's around 15 here, but still a hard sell with so much competition (and the current haze fad)

I wish they would do another run of Enjoy By Black IPA, I enjoyed that one!

Ok well good on you for being so smart but the point is, Enjoy By is marketed as being the freshest IPA on the block. That’s the whole gimmick. And when it first came out, it probably was for a lot of people. Today, for a whole lot of beer drinkers, there’s nothing particularly exceptional about an IPA that’s less than a month old.

Stone could update labels to say “Enjoy By xx/xx/xxxx or Pay $7.99 after” and then get out of the buying back process. Stores and distributors can decide if that works for them or don’t carry it.

There are multiple states that don't allow retailers to sell any form of alcohol below their cost. Cost for an Enjoy By 6pk in NJ is $12.30 from the wholesaler, is that a sufficient enough discount for you to buy "old beer"?
