They should cut the production in half, hype it up more so it sells out in a day.

I thought I noticed a higher rate of production recently, as well. I randomly was watching something on YouTube I think was dated 2013 where Greg happened to mention they wouldn't produce Enjoy By because they couldn't get the right [amount] of hops for it. Maybe that slowed releases for better or worse.

Either way, we generally grab a bottle or at least one on tap each release. I also generally start seeing it with under 2 months left, sometimes as little as a month (example - haven't seen Pi yet, limited checking). I also noted in two shops when I saw 2/14 originally on shelfs that I'd be surprised if they could sell through them "in time". Both still have a fair amount on shelves.

Agree with this statement 100%. It is still a great beer, and one of my all time favorites, but it's losing some of it's luster and marketability since it's been on the market a few years. I always buy a bomber and have it on tap when I see it, but it's not as "special" as it was when it first came to market. That being said, it hasn't let me down yet (knock on wood).

    Almost...

    1.)Claim hop shortage,
2.)Up production, claim lower bottle count.
3.)Cut distro to only the highest selling regions
    4.)???
    5.)Profit

Tried it before, was pretty good but nothing amazing. The Pi bottle is clever marketing though.

I just don't like high ABV IPAs. Wish I could get regular Stone IPA decently fresh

I feel like any perceived failure is simply a result of the fact that it's no longer novel and no longer all that scarce. That being said it's still a fantastic beer (of course there's some variation on that, but the rankings speak for themselves) that's now readily available without a whole lot of effort.

At the end of the day, isn't that what we should be hoping for? Otherwise we're sitting here praising advertising strategies.

It's technically not a special release because it is available year round. It's always good and always available. What's not to like about that?

If BCBS was available year round like everyone wants, it would sit on the shelves as well.

If there was an Enjoy By Heady Topper in 22oz bottles on the shelves of over 40 states there would be a thread complaining about how it sucks and not as good anymore.

It's just not THAT great of a beer imo. They need to find a good recipe and stick with it.

^True. Nothing wrong with an Enjoy By a week past its' 'Enjoy By' date

I'm supposing they alternate state Distro, we don't get every release maybe every other one. It would make sense to how they can reasonably distribute so much beer to such a large audience. Wouldn't be a bad idea to make it a once a quarter offering at this point, I see it stitting a bit longer than it used to as well.

This. It's just not all that great of a beer/beers. I'll take Ruination any day of the week over an Enjoy By.

I wish they would focus on Fresh Ruination rather than this gimmicky beer - Tell me when it was bottled and let me decide when to "Enjoy By". Do we really need to be told when to "Enjoy By???"

They can sell it back at cost to the distributor and be out nothing (okay technically out some overheard costs that could be assigned to that inventory)

Also, these things are within the control of Stone and it's distribution partners (working together etc. etc.)

    Cheers!

It is becoming a little more available, not just in bottles, but this last batch is the first time I've wound up with more than one bottle that didn't sell by it's date. At least two of the more popular tap houses in my area had it on tap, which seemed to slow down the bottle sales.

It's 9.4%, so I'm sure while it's good to drink by the Enjoy By date, it's not going to go stale two days after.

I saw 12.26 on shelves here in Texas well into January. Texas didn't get distro for 2.14 or 3.14. I have my fingers crossed for 4.20. Enjoy by 12.26.14 was my first of the Enjoy by series and found it to be really solid.

Stone went after a fickle market who appreciated the novelty of being told they are fickle and so they enjoyed it and then got bored of it and moved on.

I'm just over paying $9-10 per bottle, it's a fantastic beer and I'll pick it up from time to time but I hate bombers (in general). Hopefully the 12 oz. packs will be a significantly cheaper ($/oz).
