I love the licorice flavor in true RIS'. When coffee/espresso is overdone in a RIS... that just sucks.

never got to try the anise IRS (even though it sounds delicious to me), but the espresso variant sounds excellent. stone IRS was the first imperial stout that i tried that i loved. they use to intimidate me in a big way.

I went to the beer distributor and bought it.

If you are unfamiliar with Pennsylvania's awesome laws let me enlighten you. Unless you buy beer in a certain few grocery stores, or an extremely over priced hot dog shop (that doesn't really sell hot dogs), you have to buy beer by the case.

Luckily for me, the beer distributor I go to is great and the guys will order me stuff if I ask. I asked, they hooked it up. Do I need a whole case of it? Probably not.

I'll probably drink some, trade some, or just age a few.

Has anybody tasted this Espresso IRS yet?!

My local Bevmo won't get it for "another week or two". Or even better: "the lady says it's coming"

    ...can't wait for that day.

Can anybody shed some insight on what other beers (if any) Ryan bros has collaborated on? They sound so familiar...yet google is so far away to look it up myself
I'm interested if any coffee&beer nerds have sought out the exact beans (i.e. with the stone espresso IRS - obtaining ryan bros espresso beans) used in various coffee beers for a side-by-side...and if the quest was worth the reward?

Edit: alesmith (speedway) uses their beans, I couldn't resist...but who else?

Find it funny that on the bottle, they recommend grabbing a case and drinking one every 3-6 months. Have they ever tried to buy limited releases on the east coast. I'd have to hit over 12 packys to get a case, cuz half wouldn't have it or only sell me a limit of one.

Picked up 3 bombers yesterday. All my regular bottle shops were out, so I trekked to hy-vee liquor and bang buscuit, about 12 bombers on the shelf. Excellent balance in regards to the espresso. I'll have to see if hy-vee has anymore today.

Anyone in Ohio found this yet? I know it usually takes forever to get here, but thought I would ask.

Grabbed my first today. Very good! Usually I am pretty "meh" about Stone, this one wowed me.

This beer is fantastic, I went back and grabbed a couple more. Word is that Stone shipped a very small amount out for this first run and will ship more in a few weeks. Wonder why they did that.
