If you are driving down from LA, bad traffic on the 5 this morning:

CAMP PENDLETON - It won't be "the shores of Tripoli," but rather the shores of North County that will see heavy action by the United States Marines on Sunday, June 23.
Traffic between on busy Interstate 5 between San Diego and Orange counties may snarl when Marines and sailors with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Boxer Amphibious Ready Group, will come ashore at Camp Pendleton.
Their amphibious assault exercise is part of a three-week pre-deployment training event, and is a joint exercise with the Japanese Self Defense Force, Marines officers said.
The Marines and sailors will swim and drive ashore at Green Beach on small boats and amphibious assault vehicles.
Large ships, landing vehicles, and tanks will be visible to freeway traffic at Basilone Road, an unusual sight that often causes a "Marine gaper block" on the freeway.

I was told by on Friday that if you showed up this morning around 8:30 and got in line, they had 20 or so tickets to sell at the door. Hope you got one.

what were everyone's favorites? My big three were Lou Pepe Kriek, Lost Abbey Funky Barrel Mix #96, and Cascade Noyaux. Honorable mention to Luckie Charms and a nice surprise with Ladyface Guillotine aged in Jordan Cabernet barrels.

Funky Barrel 96 and Noyaux for me. Anyone know exactly what Funky Barrel 96 was a blend of?

All of the Avery's really impressed me. I also enjoyed the Luckie Charms, the Lou Pepe Kriek, the Zwet.be and the Cascade Tangerine.

New Belgium Oscar - Worthy Coffee for the win. I considered this a weird one and didn't believe this could be good, but the fresh coffee nose and lovely sour taste had me back for more.

I thought the same thing! I usually share tasters with my girlfriend so we can try more. We shared a Oscar w/ worthy coffee, then both went back and got our own pour. Was very tasty stuff!

Don't see it in any of the comments so I'll ask: Did anyone spit Rodenbach on anyone this year?

Seems like the event gets better each year. Lots of new offerings along with the old standards, and committed participation by some sought after breweries like Cascade and New Belgium. When the brewers and blenders of the beers attend, you know they are really supporting the event and sending the good stuff. Great to see Smog City there. Hoping to see Society there next year with their sours.
