pulling the stone vertical in spring of '13. no doubt the early editions could be anywhere from sketchy to downright brutal, but what the hell, it's an adventure and an excuse for a bunch of buddies to get together and have some off the wall brew. starting the drinking at noon on a weekday? nicely played.

So long as there is not much oxidation it should be fine, I've had some Belgian beers twice as old as this one with less alcohol and they tasted good.

Cool this will be very interesting. I think it shows a lot of faith in how these beers held up for Stone to do this event. Hard to imagine them pouring a 'disgusting' beer for a whole group of people at a high profile event. I'll try to tune it but I also hope there's a replay on youtube or something.

Congrats on that but I'm guessing watching people drink beer is not as enjoyable as watching people do other things.

We may be streaming live, but after that it's going to be available. Plus we'll be editing it down into manageable snippets on a "per year" basis. E.g., 02.02.02 will have a short video on just that vintage, etc...

I may tune in just to see the look on people's faces when they taste the 02/02/02. I cannot imagine a senario where the beer would be good at this point. Just sayin:)

    forgive me for sounding slow...

but why are you doing the 12.12.12 vert on 11.15.12, and not 12.12.12???

On 12.15.12, I'll be doing them all on my show as well. Wish I had the chance to get the newest edition early, but I can be patient.

    FeDUBBELFIST Oct 31, 2009 Pennsylvania

I was just thinking th the same thing. Tough call.

On one hand, streaming this tasting could be slightly alienating...alienating to those who have invested major time and/or money into acquiring a vertical of their own. Why on earth would someone want to watch - well in advance - what *should be* a highly anticipated event that they have planned for themselves?! Personally, I don't want to hear how awesome, average or shitty the witbier is from anyone else! After ten years of waiting (or many years of "acquiring", at the very least), best believe the surprise would be mine.

On the other hand, why stream the tasting a month early? Well, I'm sure many BAs will want to drink vicariously through Greg, Jason, Todd and company, for one. Should be a good time. But let's face it, Stone wants to hype this thing up a little. And they *should* because, after all (besides some thread on BA), no one is going to give a damn about this vertical on 12.13.12.

Don't mean to sound like a dick here, but...Don't watch? Doesn't seem like that much of a problem.
I imagine a large portion of the people interested in watching this event will be those who haven't tried earlier beers in the series.

And who want to see Todd punch Greg.

Am I the only one that had a sneaking suspicion that perhaps Greg has tasted the 02.02.02 recently and thought it held up just fine? I mean if anyone is sitting in "extras" (if you could call it that) then it would be Greg.
