I assume this counts as "Big Beer News" in the same way other odd beers and bottlings from around the world have in the past.

    From the EastVan Beer Blog:

I think the important part here is the "$1000 Bottle of Beer". The commissioned art or vessel that the beer is delivered in is probably responsible for a good part of the price tag. I see this as nothing more than trying to create hype or news with sticker shock.

A rare bottle of wine that has been aged for years or even decades can fetch quite the asking price, however a beer even at 25% seems borderline "mad" at that price.

What's next? Beer with diamonds in it to up the price further?

You can keep the bottle, but my interest is piqued enough to shell out $40 for the half liter.

I would love to taste it, but I don't need to buy a one of a kind work of art for $1000.

Actually sounds pretty tasty. And I wouldn't say no to a mammoth tusk pendant either. If I were a rich bastard, I may have my butler snag a bottle.

I'd prob be down for the $40 .5 liter and maybe wax dip the whole top of the growler to seal it up (if that's even possible).

Just read to the end, where they're selling liter growler fills for $80 (and half liters for $40). That really is one pricing bottle.

Not too far away from me, but likely just drop by for a growler fill. If I were into art, I'd totally do it.

LOL, really though it's the art you're buying. That's a normal price for something like that in a glass shop, not saying I buy art like that, but it's about right.

    Plus that's $1000 Canadian

I know, right? Why do haters keep complaining about this being a $1000 beer? It's a unique, handmade work of art that happens to come with beer. Art collectors pay that much for paintings and sculptures all the damn time, and some of them would probably scoff at people on this site paying $11 for a 12 oz bottle of 120 Minute IPA.

This is a beer site, I'm sure most of us don't give a damn about a $900+ glass bottle with a mammoth pendant. I care even less if some people think such stuff is worth that much. You can proceed to scoff at me.

Don't get me wrong, I'd never buy anything like that either, certainly not at my income level, and I'm not scoffing at anyone for not being a wealthy art collector. I'm just saying that people who think that this just is an overpriced hype beer are missing the point entirely. In other words, they're not selling it to you.
