So I did a beer trade about a month ago and as it turns out, the shipping label somehow was lost before it got to it's destination and the box ended up in Utah in FedEX's Lost & Found center. They are telling me that because it's beer, they can not send it back to me directly, but would need to send it somewhere with a liquor license where I can then pick it up.

My questions are, Do any places that sell beer or beer/wine have a liquor license, or is that specific only to places that sell hard liquor? I'm not up to speed on TABC laws/regulations/licensing...

And are there any BAs who work in or own a store with a liquor license where I could have my box returned to so that I may pick it up? I frequent Which Craft, East 1st, Sunrise, Whole Foods for beer, but didn't know if they have liquor licenses or if they are something different...

    Thanks for reading!

I think all the places you listed are grocery stores which is why they don't sell liquor. In TX there is a sperate beer and wine license and a liquor license.

What I'm wondering is, was it clear that they literally meant "liquor license," or would they be fine with sending it to a place that had a beer/wine license?

I asked, and she said Liquor License specifically, but she clearly wasn't an expert on the matter. So frustrating...

Unless they're selling liquor, they're probably not going to be paying the extra money for a P (package store) permit. I can't imagine why you'd actually NEED it to go to a liquor store, and not just a wine & beer retailer, but they ARE different. Maybe you could talk to your local Twins and see if they can help you out, or check in with a favorite restaurant that maybe knows you?

Good luck - sounds like a real pain. :/

in the future print out two shipping labels and places one inside the box on the top. When a shipping label is lost they open the box and if the shipping label is the first thing they see, hopefully they wont go through the rest of the box and will seal it and ship it out. I have the Styrofoam box shippers and i do this with every box. Doesn't cost anything extra and can save a ton of headache
