No more so than trading I suppose, if I trade I need boxes and insulation as well , not quite so lopsided. France 44 is very reasonable shipping on my orders maybe 12-14 above beer cost, if there a boxing or handling fee I don't know it.

Beer4less has Pliny a lot, you have to buy six total beers and the shipping costs as much as the beer, but it's the only way I ever had the chance to get one

I've bought a mxed 12 of Pliny and Blind Pig from Beverages4less a few times. Alpine is in his backyard and he gets weekly deliveries . Expensive though his handling/ box fee is $15 or do on top of the shipping cost. But for a once a year thing no big deal, it is what it is .

Let me correct myself, I meant to say Beverages4less, not beer4less...sorry

Gotta watch Freddie picking your pocket, but he will send you anything you want...at a price. I haven't ordered in years, but my last order was for 6 Pliny and 6 Blind Pig, and he bumped up the per bottle price on the Pliny by a buck because he said he didn't make much on it, and he used that to drive sales for other beers. But for a once a year thing no big deal and his Alpine is fresh as is his RR stuff.

Your area in PA certainly is growing. Check out Saucony Creek Brewing Company in Kutztown PA and even Weyerbacher just released an awesome line of tasty ones you’d like! And you never know what might happen next in Ardmore PA.

I'm an avid home brewer but I also want to get some top notch commercial beers to round out my cellar. What in your opinion is the best online site to purchases great beer. Not the most expensive, but most tasty. Though price doesn't bother me much!

In for the replies. It is a pain to get decent beer where I live.

What styles are you looking for? Belgium in a Box and Etre Gourmet are excellent for Belgians (lambics, gueuze, trappist, etc.). Craftshack.com has a good selection of American beers as does halftimebeverage.com

Good luck most on line don't ship to Pa. Use to do halftime but now they don't either. France 44 has Surley but don't ship now either.

Blackwell's in San Francisco....there's not much on the website, but jut sign up for the newsletter. Once a week you'll get a pretty extensive list, which always includes Pliny the Elder.

Prices seem to be a bit high and international shipping will undoubtedly price them out of the game.

Just for fun I added (24) Westmalle Tripel to my cart. According to the website, it weighs 69.78lbs (29.9kg). However, rational math is as follows: 12oz x 24 beers = 288oz. Divide by 16oz to get 18lbs. I even gave them an extra nudge on weight because Westmalle bottles are actually 11.15oz, not 12.

So I guess they are adding 51lbs of packaging?!?!?

Shipping ended up being 99euros or $112 at current exchange rates.

That brings my total to 142euros or $161...which comes to $6.70 per beer.

You must be a rich man if you buy stuff from them.

If you can actually find someplace that will ship to you in PA, be careful on the receiving end since the reason some places won't ship beer to us here in PA is that its illegal in PA for you to have the untaxed (by PA) alcohol in your posession and they don't want to be held liable for you breaking a state law.

Those beers come in glass bottles, that all have to be individually wrapped, which takes up a lot of space in a very large box.

I didn't find it particularly outrageous when I ordered from them. Best place to consistently get Cantillon, so it's worth it to some people.

Agreed. $100 in shipping seems pretty steep though and I don't see 24 beers plus packaging weighing 69lbs.
