    Hey guys,

2 weeks from now, I'll be in Burlington. I would love to drive to The Alchemist or HF, but I won't have a car, since we'll get there on a boat trough Champlain Lake. We'll be 6 beer enthusiasts, so I was wondering if it's easy to get HT from a liquor store in Burlington? And any chance to get HF stuff too? Any suggestion near marina? And if we get our hands on HT in Burlington, is it easy to buy like a case to quench our thirst, or is it restricted quantities? Should I call somewhere first to ask for a reservation?

Thanx to all locals who will take the time to answer me. Can't wait to drink those...

    Cheers,

Others can probably speak to this better than I can, but the only place I know of that regularly has Hill Farmstead on-tap in Burlington is the Farmhouse. I know you won't have a car, but you'll have a much better selection if you can get to the Blackback in Waterbury. Fortunately, Burlington has an astonishingly good public transit system for such a small city, and the #86 Montpelier LINK express bus runs weekdays with a stop in Waterbury. The Blackback is a pleasant 20 minute walk from the bus stop, with the Alchemist up the road in the opposite direction a bit. Of course, you can get a pint of Heady Topper on-tap at the old Alchemist spot, now the Prohibition Pig, directly across the street from the Blackback.

Although you can get good beer at Pearl St. Beverage, it's about a 6-block walk from the waterfront. There is a grocery/deli/creemee place right at the base of College St. that caters to boaters, but their beer selection leans more to the usual boater-beer suspects (Heineken, Stella.) They do have some larger locals like Long Trail, Otter Creek, Magic Hat, but good luck getting any HT there. Worth a cab ride up to Pearl St. if you need serious provisioning! Also, plenty of local taprooms right in town with great selections on-tap the 3-block walk up the hill will do you some good, right? HT is often available at these places (the more upscale ones, not the townie-bars) in single cans.

Cool! But I'm more looking to grab cans and get back on the boat, I won't have the opportunity, I think, to enjoy beers on tap in a pub or restaurant. I'll try to go to the pearl street beverage to get what I can before getting back on boat.

You can also find Heady Topper cans at City Market in Burlington.

If you're looking to explore options outside of the area, I believe there is a company in Burlington that offers beer tours complete with transportation. I've never done it, and it doesn't look cheap, but might be worth it. I think one of them goes to the Alchemist cannery.

Thanks, Nathan. The wife's coworker is in Burlington every weekend and has been tasked with getting me some cans.

Beverage Warehouse in Winooski has cases of it for sale, no limits on quantity. As said before, The Farmhouse has it, but I did find it for $7 a can at Manhattan Pizza. If you go there on a Friday, it's on special for $5 a can, the cheapest I've seen at any of the bars around here.
