Picked up a 6er yesterday at my local muni (gogo St. Anthony) pretty darn tasty. Nice hop bite, nice mouthfeel.

    Good job Summit

my 13 year old had a sip and really liked it as well, said it was almost as good as grain belt, so maybe take his praise with a grain of salt

Having my first one tonight and i'm quite impressed. A sweet & citrusy IPA. I'll be buying more for certain.

    Thanks Summit!!

Just grabbed a six as well. I was pleasently surprised with the strong hop aroma and solid flavor. This will definately be a regular in the line up. Especially when it comes out in 12pks.

I think this is a great beer. Really nice aroma...good hop juiciness...nice hop bill.....add in the price point and this will be my go to IPA...much prefer it to Torpedo (which I also like but not close to this).

I agree, and also would prefer it over Torpedo (which falls off drastically when it isn't fresh IMO).

I have to ask based on the comments in this thread and the reviews for this beer…is homerism at play? Better than Torpedo, better than Furious? It's a nice IPA, but the list of (IMHO) better IPA's found in MN (local or not) is long before you'd hit Saga. On my list anyway.

Again, it's a nice IPA, but I think people are over reacting.

In my opinion, it is much better than Torpedo, but there are other factors here--most importantly, freshness and availability. As far as comparing it to Furious...I'm with you on that one. However, I don't think Summit would say they intended to stack this one directly against Furious. They are different beers, and I don't feel the need to compare/rank them. I enjoy them both.

Is anyone jerking off over it? It's a good local IPA option. Nothing more, nothing less.

It is a ok to solid local IPA. But I do feel like people are, ah, "jerking off" over it based on comments in this thread and reviews I've read. It's a nice beer, no doubt. Just finishing off my first sixer of it. I enjoyed it!

Not sure how homerism would apply to Surly vs Summit...both MN beers. I like it better than Torpedo...never compared it to Furious which is a different animal. I wouldn't compare those two personally. To me it is clearly better than Torpedo and that likely has to do with the hops used in each...

In my case, Torpedo at the same price point is an inferior product. To be completely honest, I would rather have a Widmer Rotator X-114 (which I think Saga resembles) over Torpedo.

Furious is in a different price point, and a better beer...but NOT a f-ing IPA, so they can't be compared.

And, for what it's worth...I would still rather have a Two Hearted, homerism or not.

Is it possible to be proud of a good beer being brewed locally without tags like "homerism"?

Also, I like local beer better because I like fresh beer better. Especially hoppy beers.

I find it amusing that some stores see it necessary to mark up Saga. I am looking at you Haskell's.

When fresh, I think Horizon is an awesome red ale. Lately, it has seemed dull and slightly metallic.

As for Saga, great all around IPA

Yeah I want to like Sierra Nevada, and I loved the ruthless Rye, but I really don't care for the pale ale or the torpedo, something about the hop flavor I just don't care for.

Indeed. If only Summit would learn to brew world class, well balanced interpretations of classic beer styles. Malt is the new hops. I thought everyone knew this.

Funny stuff, I thought there was TOO MUCH balance. I guess that's why we don't all eat/drink the same things.

Been drinking a few more of these and definitely getting more of a dry finish similar to Anniversary Ale....not saying it is a bad thing just something I am beginning to identify a little more now 12 beers into these or so.(not on the same night)

  35. mnstorm99

That is a good thing to me as I like my IPA's dry. Let the hops provide the juice

On my third six pack of this stuff and honestly each sixer has tasted better than the last IMO.

Oh, and I finally tried a Summer Ale at the bar, then picked up a twelver on my way home. So both new Summit beers are an early winner for me, lets see how fresh they can keep 'em on the shelves

12 packs are on hold. Most likely until next year. Sorry.

We can't keep up with demand for draft and 6 packs. We can't bite off any more at this point.
