Awesome, thanks peeps! gonna grab an armful tomorrow.
The Box Steam Dark & Handsome was sold out at my local branch of B&Ms
They did however have 500ml bottles of Brain's Dark in at £1.39
Waitrose has started stocking Camden Helles for the introductory price of £1.50 a bottle (normal price £1.89).
Just read this thread earlier and went out to my local B&M to take a look and picked up a few beers
Oakham ales Citra bitter - £1.79
Lion Stout - 89p
Moorhouse's Blonde Witch - £1.69
Moorhouse's Pride of Pendle - £1.49 (Had to pick these up as they are from my home town Burnley, Lancashire)
Wychwood Wychcraft Blonde - £1.29
Buddy's Bourbon & Honey Beer - £1.29
Pretty happy with my first trip!
All fantastic stuff apart from the Buddy's which is earth staggeringly bad
I'm back from my local branch because the missus like the canned cocktails
and also managed to find 355 ml bottles of Belhaven's Wee Heavy at 89p
and 500 ml bottles of Tucher Nürnberger pils at £1.49
Sweet, B&Ms here I come.
Queues for the tills at B&M were stupid so Belaven Wee Heavy will have to wait
M&S Citra IPA by Oakham
M&S Cascade Pale Ale by Castle Rock
and both in actual pint bottles - not too shabby for just over £2 each.
Lion Stout at 89p a bottle? Did you also time warp back to 1989?
Picked up a few myself, told the lads at work and they cleared the shelves. 89p? Bargain!!
I can't find a B&M here that sells alcohol. Maybe they decided that selling 89p bottles of strong stout to glaswegians was a bad idea
Popped in earlier and found the Belhaven's Wee Heavy and Tucher. I've had the Belhaven brew before and it's good stuff. Might be grabbing some more soon.....
Gah, I want Lion Stout in my local supermarkets!
Giving taste the difference APA ago because it's only a quid for some reason. Expectations not high.
No more Lion Stout or Belhaven Wee Heavy. Plenty of Oakham but more's the pity, loads of Wentworth/Banks/Barnsley too.
The WPA is quite good
and at its still twenty pee cheaper than any of the big supermarket chains multi buy offers
Still waiting for the local Tesco to re-stock Alice Porter. It's been a while.
Mine has been out since 2010 lmao
If you haven't had any interest up 'til now, I'd put it away.
Sorry im confused?
Well I just had the Buddy's and you where exactly right, probably the worst beer ever, infact it didn't even taste like beer!
I last paid 89p for a bottle of Lion Stout over 20 years ago. A total deal you had there. Makes sense now?
It has been a large source of disdain for me for a while
even if you skip over the use of American spelling to try and present the product as being genuine US craft beer
and look past that despite using a portrait cartoon picture
there was never a J.W. Buddy in the post prohibition Michigan beer scene
there still is the fact that it has "now with a touch of honey" and that is the only taste in the bottle
The only plus side to this monumental insult to beer
is that a while ago a few people said I should do Video beer reviews
and I didn't think I had a well rounded enough vocabulary
enough charisma or be able to summon high enough production values.
This crap in a bottle lead me to discover not only the clip but series on youtube
which I shall place the relevant episode below, which has given me the confidence
so make an attempt at video beer reviews because this shit is actually worse than the Buddy's
Bev man if you start video beer reviews I'll def send you a bottle or two.
I might hold you to that
It makes sense now! Well I went back to B&M yesterday to get some more Citra and the Lion's had completely sold out.
@Bevis wow yeah that video! Carlsberg? Alcopop? Ginger beer? ahhh dear.
also the "now with a touch of honey" yeah that was all I could taste, was like drinking fizzy honey :|
You should give it a go with the beer reviews would be interesting to watch. Do you have any that you would recommend on youtube?
yes, well Stuart always seems to start half cut
Try and get a better camera than that too.
Plus try not to review when hungover and out of it like that guy looks.
^^ haha yeah I forgot to say a lot of the time I couldn't understand a word he was saying
They've put up the shelf labels for the Sainsburys Beer festival but not the beer and i haven't been able to get to a beer shop for like 6 weeks now. I need this.
Was mooching around a store earlier and the beer is on the shelves. Didn't take a precise note of everything but there appear to be some interesting offerings, particularly Harbour brewing and Hardknott. Grabbed an Infrared IPA, which I intend to consume shortly.....

To be fair, the Querkus is pretty good. Also surprised at how much I enjoyed the Harbour IPA and the Bock B. The American Pride and the black pepper ale not so much.
Yeah I just have bad memories of ridgeway Xmas beers and the disgusting batemans mocha which actually won last year. How, I do not know.
Don't they usually go on special offer soon after their release?
I was in today and no sign of them in the store I was in, but they'd reduced most scottish beers by 1/3rd, so I picked up a bunch of profanity stouts, impale pale, a load of orkney dark island and others and picked up a bottle Deuchars Imperial Pale Ale, not expecting anything from that but I've not tried it yet and the ticker in me needed sating.
Id rather that than the beer festival beers. Although, harbour ipa is really nice.
If anyone here has a Waitrose card you can currently get 10% off all beer and cider, including items already on offer, you can pick them up in store easily (also get a free paper when you spend over £5 and a free hot drink everyday where available).
They had Oakham Citra and Scarlet Macaw for £1.79 the other day too, plus some good deals on Budvar and others.
Well nothing new really in BandM's though it might be a good time to stock up the
Christmas Larder/Autumn Winter Birthday cupboard
with 330 ml bottles of Shep Neame's Spitfire for sixty five pence and
same size K 1 (Buttwiper clone with hint of rootbeer) for sixty nine pee
and Castle Rock's Elsie Mo five 00ml bottles for ninety nine pee
Grabbed some Elsie Mo earlier - when it's in good condition it's superb.....
Is Williams Bros still brewing Profanity Stout? I thought it was a one-off for the Sainsbury's fest 2 years ago. Superb brew....
