They must have rebrewed it as there was a load of them on the shelf. £1.29 too
Regularly stocked in the nearest tesco (epping) has been for the past few years!
What is wrong with my local supermarkets?!!
You probably have other above average delights that we do not
tried an Elsie Mo last night, was very nice!
Had one the other night as well - it's great when it's in good condition.
In other news, I was in Morrisons earlier and noticed that there are some new arrivals on the shelves. New US beers from the Point brewery (Wisconsin), Grimbergen Dubbel and a new range of 'own-brand' ales. Most of these are currently on offer, so might be worth a punt.....
B&Ms had a few Belhaven Wee Heavy and Elsie Mo, obviously a couple of each they'd found out the back so I snapped them up.
Also on the shelves were a trio from Salisbury Brewery, they didnt look convincing, especially with Fine Cask Ale written across the bottle. Anyone tried them?
Thought I hadn't looked in my Local Bargain Booze in a long while
and was just going to grab the usual Worthy's Red Shield when I spotted Crafty Dan's wares
at one fifty a bottle.
Got the Big Ben, Thirteen Guns and Triple C (now isn't that a standard Thwaite's Line name?)
I grabbed one of each, well I can't find a Sainsbo's that is doing the Beer hunt. Now when adding them on here should they be filed under Thwaites or does Crafty Dan need adding?
Thwaites I guess, it's their new line isn't it? Does it mention Thwaites on the bottle at all?
here's a list of gbbh sainsburys
It does in as much as it gives where the name Crafty Dan comes from
Crafty Dan - Daniel Thwaites but doesn't give the Thwaites logo and refers to it as a microbrewery.
I guess it is similar to Brains and Brains craft brewery, is it?
Ah, it has the Star Brewery's postcode on it.
Hate it when that happens. Like how Nethergate now call say Old Growler brewery on their beers. Old Growler is their porter so wtf?
I think it's their new microbrewery on site then, I think Adnams and Harveys are doing similar so they don't get left behind
would make sense to put it in with Thwaites
It has a big Thwaites logo across the top of the front label - see http://www.thwaites.co.uk/assets/img/ee/uploads/image-330x498.jpeg
Just had a look at the following link - http://www.williamsbrosbrew.com/pdfs/gbbh-stockists-2013.pdf
Looks like Sainsburys seems to have forgotten about Northern Ireland... even though one of the GBBH beers is from the Hilden Brewery !!
I have the Big Ben(Brown Ale) Thirteen Gun's (American IPA) and Triple C none of which have the Thwaites logo but a separate Drafty dan one
After the incredible middle of the road-ness of the Elbow Beer
and the valiant but flawed Trooper beer from Maiden/Dickinson
B&M's now give you the chance to sample from the Growler(tho that is a beer the brewery is Nethergate) Gladness/Madness beer for £1.69 a 500ml bottle making it the second most expensive beer in there (Oakham's Citra taking that title)
Also from NetherGrowler is IPA(Ian & Paul's ale) a little more sanely priced at £1.29 for 500ml
and totally fucking nuts I saw a bottle of Efes Draught, there was no price label
which set me back a completely fucking hatstand £1.65
Harviestoun have free shipping from their shop until the end of the month, worth £10, use code AUTUMN2013 -
Bottle of Flying Herbert for a quid in Asda, wished I'd braved the queues in B&Ms for Elsie Mo instead.
I understand that Nethergate have officially changed the name of the brewery to Growler, on the basis of that name being better known than Nethergate.
Did a bit of a beer run today, Nothing in Tescos
went on to ASDA where some beers are a pound INCLUDING Moorehouse's Black cat
A bit of a disaster in B&M's where I got a can of Brok Export at £1.19
but also picked 4 cans of Caledonia Best which put me on the sliding scale of despair
heading downhill was paying £2.99 when I thought it was
but going into real freefall without chute just seen they are draught flow cans
I've been widgetised
Dragged myself and the ever increasing shopping to Sainsbury's where the beer aisle
redirected me to the seasonal isle for the beer hunt and despite it being a huge row
Only half a shelf had the beer hunt items AND THAT was half empty
so picked up all 4 that were there - Infer Red, Porter No. 6 Gonny No Brew That and Querkus
Well, at least those 4 have a bit of flavour between them. Porter No. 6 is the best - kinda hope it wins!
Yeah, porter, infra red and querkus are all really great beers!
Does anyone know what the likes Aldi and lidl have in at the moment? They usually do an Oktoberfest theme this time of the year.
On me way out the door to have a scry now.
Aldi have the Munich Helles from last year
Das Helle - Dinkelacker-Schwabenbraeu AG
but don't have the dark beer this time
Thanks, could not find info on their website and I don't live close enough to one to have a look myself.
My one has barrels of pils and weissbier.
My Aldi has sauerkraut in jars and German salami. Booo!
Yeah all I saw in Aldi was that Das Helle Dicklicker Schwarzenegger OG.
But I did find an M&S beer I hadn't seen before. Meantime brewed black IPA.
And Morrisons had a beer by Brains' craft brewery, Barry Island IPA
Talking of Brains Craft Ocado have
Now have Bragging Rights & Atlantic White and are on offer of 2 for £3
I have a delivery on the way and am looking forward to seeing if
Boiler Maker & Barry Island are the bum notes
if these two sound sweeter than a fine Welsh Baritone.
For nice German meat I'd recommend the sausage selection which is pretty much exactly the same thing in Tesco, Sainsburys and the co-op. Bierwurst!
Apologies in advance, on behalf of Wales.
It's actually the one Brains Craft Brewery beer not brewed in Brains Craft Brewery.
Inspired by the shameful hateful swivel eyed combination of the Daily Mail and the Conservative Conference I decided to toast Ed Miliband's father tonight. Hardknott Ifra Red from Sainsbos on sale at a price even a 23 year old hard working unemployed man who just had all his benefits cut might just be able to afford. Provided he wasn't doing National Service of course.
'If you tolerate this, then your children will be next...'
It's still here Zims
In case anyone has missed it (found in the Merseyside area):
- Home Bargains are stocking four beers from Sadler's: Thin Ice, Mud City Stout, Worcester Sorcerer and Mellow Yellow. Anyone tried them?
- Tesco have an unbelievable 4 for £5 offer. Get down your local as the website does not have the full selection. Mine had Old Tom in the deal. £1.25 each - BARGAIN.
By the way, anyone have an idea of how much the supermarkets are losing on these offers? There's a loss leader, but then there's knocking £2 off the rrp...
Exactly the post I was going to make - the Sadler's brews are also on the shelves in my local B&M store. Though I can't vouch for them as I haven't tried any yet....
The Tesco offers are a steal....
Addendum to my earlier post - B&M also had bottles of Guinness FES for £1. Another bargain, get thee to a B&Ms near you!
All the star players are absent from B&Ms shelves. They've also put up the price of Oakham Citra to £1.79. They had something for 79p but I'm bollocksed if I can remember what.
Glencoe Wild Oat Stout is the 79p job.
Aye, Aye but in tiddly 330ml bottles?
