Surly Coming to Colorado

    I picked up a bottle of Darkness last week, and opened it last night. Actually, I spent almost all night opening the damn thing. The wax they use if fricking insane, it's like it has kevlar blended into it. Even the streamers coming off are tough. They aren't brittle, you can twist them in a knot and they don't break.

    Anyway, aside from the horrible wax, I fricking loved that beer. I don't see how barrel-aging would improve it. IMO, it would probably just taste like every other BA stout at that point. I would say it has a lot of the character of Expedition, but Expo can be a little rougher. This was real easy to drink for what it is. The price sucks, and the wax really sucks.

    They're on the top of the four pack in a clear mm/dd/yyyy format. They may get lost in the words or just because lost because nobody seems to look on the top of a package for a date.
