The Darkness falls in October, either way. As long as I get my allotment at Darkness Day, I got you covered.

Surly posted on Facebook or Twitter, I can't remember, about the partnership to design the new brewery. Pretty cool stuff coming up for Surly.

I might have a week of work in Chicago the week of Darkness Day, which I'm toying on the idea of driving from Philly in the off chance that the stars align and is the same time period. Finally my fear of flying will pay off! (Hopefully).

Darkness Day is scheduled for the 27th. Chicago is only 6 (or so, depending on your speed) hours away...

I'll selfishly hope the choose a location in Minneapolis near the lightrail. Anyone have an idea what kind of production increase they might be looking at when the new brewery is up and running plus the current location?

If that is anything close to true, I would be 3 minutes from there during work hours... SWEET!

On my tour last summer, they addressed production increases, but I can't remember the number just that it will be exponentially huge. Sounds like a game changer in regards to meeting Minnesota demand and maybe moving out at least into the Midwest.

I can only hope for Abrasive as a year round offering...

My questions are how many years out is this?
Will they have to take on investors?

This is going to be huge. I took sometime off from Furious and have been expanding my horizons, but had a can the other night. Was like being reunited with a long lost friend. It is a contender for the best brew in the U.S. I think the brilliance behind Furious is that it is so complex that we debate whether it is an IPA/Red/Amber.

The sky is the limit for Surly and I bet they will get a world class chef wanting to be apart of the food aspect of the new facility. I'm already resigned to the fact that my visits will be mid-week/off hours, but that is fine with me.

From the day they break ground to "Grand Opening," judging by renditions and descriptions, 18-26 months. 18 if they are willing to pay for an aggressive construction schedule.

Agreed. Granted, renderings are rarely a good depiction of what the final product will look like, but if it is anything like this, it is very sterile and boring.

Are they going for the agriculture machine shed or grain bin look for the interior? Even Founder's, which I don't like, is much more interesting inside then these renderings.

Haters be damned. Give it the light of day then offer it up. JC! Frankly, I find it rather fetching.
