In recognition of @Tertullian007 coming back to the thread, I've changed my avatar in hopes that I don't get 007'd. Ok, I'll stop with the 007 references for now.

On a positive note, looking for this picture made me go back through about 100 pages until I found it on page 87 (I think). Man that brought back memories. October 2013. I'd just kicked off brewing all grain, the BiaB was barely through it's 5th or 6th stop. @jpsboom still hadn't shown his immaculate abs which made me oh so horny.

    Wait...what???

    Beer.

I'm legitimately curious how long ago the last trade in here was that had clearly defined terms on both sides of the deal. Probably more recently than I think, but I'd guess it was a long time ago

So I replied to his cellar clearing that I wanted BC '13 and '14 and he just said send me you address...

    I don't work like that...(except for with @Mipper ). And maybe @Dicers

I get it, I just feel like most of the actual 'trades' around here are loosely defined at best, and often include a blind box in one or both directions.

To address Houser's questions, I will need to share details. I am not looking for sympathy, only answering questions.
My life really did fall apart. I caught my wife of 16 years with my best friend. I took my 3 teenage kids and I moved into a friend's house. I had very little sustenance to support 3 teenagers. I sold the beer that I owed, along with a the beer I had, to house and feed my kids. I was desperate. I have suffered continual anguish for that decision. It was not easy to ignore contact from those I screwed over. At the time, I was in survival mode and didn't give half a shit about beer or anyone outside of myself and my children. I knew I didn't do things the right way, but I was in a difficult position.
So I lost my wife and my house and went through a messy divorce. Beer was the last thing on my mind after I sold what I had. It was never my intention to sell Jarrod and Seth's beers. It just happened to be one of the few resources I had when this happened.
I decided to come back because I am a man of integrity and my conscience burned me every day. I couldn't enjoy a beer without thinking of those I screwed over. I got back into craft beer a few months ago with the intention of fixing things. I don't know what I can say about the future and what it holds, but I can rest well knowing that I have done my best to rectify my past mistakes.

Cool! I will shoot you my number and just hit me up that Friday. Beach house? Fancy! We are renting a house in between the event and downtown Paso. Saturday night I'm down only if I get up after I pass out shortly after the event haha.

I am actually someone that believes in second chances, being given one myself early in life so take this with a grain of salt: The bolded part is hard to believe based on your actions. Had you reached out to those you screwed over to say at some point in the future I'll make it right or even explaining why you did what you did it would be an easier pill to swallow, at least to me. To ignore someone you completely effed over is hard to believe.

As others have said, as long as those people you stole and sold beer from are ok with you coming back, that's all that matters.

I guess the thing I don't understand is why ignore contact? I'm not saying you'd have been met with positive feedback for it, but why not respond to Jarrod and Seth with "look, some seriously fucked up shit is going on and i feel shitty about it, but this is what's going to happen"? I'm not asking this because I think saying those things would have been easy, but you said yourself that ignoring their attempts to reach out wasn't easy either.

This is a pretty consistent theme in most 'bad trader' threads, so I suppose in part I'm asking you to answer on behalf of all the 'bad traders' (most of whom end up banned before saying much). What is it about communicating, which seems so easy to expect from those on the other end of it, that is so hard? Even if a detailed explanation isn't going to happen (which is understandable), and even if all you can give is "I'm really sorry, but I have to put my family first right now", why is radio silence so often the route taken?

I actually did explain to Jarrod and Seth publicly (on STLHops.com) my situation and that I would fix it. It became quite clear to me after some time that living on one income and raising 3 kids was not something that would allow me to do that. While I hoped to pay them back sooner than later, it just wasn't going to happen and I took the cowards route and hid rather than explaining myself. It was difficult to admit that I wasn't going to be able to return the beer I owed. I hated myself for that. It's embarrassing to admit that you can't hold up your end of a trade-for any reason.

I've been ISO Last Snow since before it came out. Asked in here, tried a couple trades that didn't work. Does anybody have any they'd want to trade? Thanks.
