Seriously though, what is it with these new guys, amiright? I think I set a trend...

 

Man every BIF we are in together (2 or 3 by my count so far) I end up eliminating you for my potential senders, but follow your hints and I am always jealous of your targets. BB Cherry Stout is a huge want of mine

Hint #1: I'm shipping East.
Hint #2: My target has > 150 wants.
Hint #3: My target's state has some interesting town names. It was once home to places called Noodle Doosie, Intercourse, Peach Bottom, and Honey Hole. I'm not going to lie, I wish I could say I lived in a town called Honey Hole.
Hint #4: In honor of the anniversary of our nation's founding, and my target's close proximity to Philadelphia, I'm sending along some anniversary-themed goodies to aid you in celebrating the holiday.
Hint #5: I know it may sound weird, but the IP trade I'm making tomorrow at Tyranena will probably get you laid. Fingers crossed.

 

Sorry, I realized I came back from lunch to like 5 things I wanted to reply to, but not until after I already posted a couple individually...

In general, a BIF is a group of people that come together to send beer to each other in a format similar to a Secret Santa gift exchange, everyone is given their target and they fill a box to the BIF's specfications (this one was SWTFYW ship whatever ...; but many have a theme such as one I did recently that was Barleywine themed). Once targets have gone out, people do hints and guess their sender for fun, but boxes are shipped out during a predetermined shipping window, or by a deadline date; I've never seen one done where the box doesn't go out until the sender is guessed (but I like it!). Once boxes start arriving, recipients will post beer **** displaying their haul and cursing their sender for the amount of structural damage they'll have to repair as a result of the box that decimated their porch.

There are also competitive BIFs, such as for the NCAA Tournament, NBA Finals, or World Cup, where you fill out a bracket or answer questions (like a series of prop bets) and you have a winner who gets boxes from the losers (or multiple winners, it varies).

Then there are LIFs, or "lottery it forward" where someone is just giving away beer, no reciprocating expected, based on whatever criteria they choose, could be similar to a competition BIF (answer a series of questions and whoever gets the most right wins) or pure 'out of a hat', and these are commonly done like a raffle with the funds going to charity; you missed a few good ones through spring, but more pop up pretty regularly.

Lastly, there's this ridiculous band of degenerate misfits... This thread started as a (pretty large) 'standard' BIF, and once the original sending/receiving was over, some of the worst characters stuck around and did another round, and another after that. Then the side trades started, and the bottle share, and the tits, and stuff and things. Oh and this thread has also brought forth into the world about 5 or 6 babies, and a couple weddings.

@jshusc made a good point about lurking, I definitely recommend that you lurk in here for a while (in addition to your reading assignment) before you get in on the action, and also participate in a couple other BIFs to get a feel for it. For one, you'll want to build up some ammo, but you also need to know what you're getting yourself in for, not just financially but mentally and emotionally....

Man, wish I thought of that... I have a cool 4th themed idea for my box but that one is not only 4th themed but also "amazing beer" themed... My box's rAvg will suffer for my idea, but I (hope) I'm making up for it with the other side of the box.

I'm starting to think you're my sender... of course, I'm one of three that fit all of your hints no less perfectly than I, but I'll take a 1/3 chance...


My own 444th hint: My target has <150 wants... and should probably get some more unless he wants me to truly SWTFIW, which I'll probably do anyway.... so, nevermind.

Hoyer sat behind Tom Brady for several years and has done nothing but win. Johnny Manziel played scramble football for a beatable college team. Why is this even a debate? We messed up that draft when we passed on Watkins at #4 then messed up again by not taking offensive lineman with the late first round pick. I'm praying to win 5 games this year but it ain't lookin good. I'll probably need to check myself into the psych ward after week one when the Steelers show up with a real football team!
