We will be down in Orlando in March, and will be in Tampa for a day. I'm wanting to hit CCB and 7venth Sun (at least). But with kids along, wanted to make sure the Sunshine State is warm and friendly to kids at their breweries and brewpubs.

Any issues in FL with kids and alcohol, beyond the theme parks? Any smaller places that get looked over, that are worth a look?

    Thanks

I have been to CCB when they have had kids there, they even let them do the tour, so I think they are ok with it.

A good bar to check out that allows kids is Willard's Tap House in largo. They have Capt Eli's Root Beer on so that the kids have something to drink, been there a few times that kids have been in there. Small place with 40 taps of good craft beers. Pegs cantina is another kid friendly place since it is more of a restaurant, but has awesome beer.

I would second the Peg's suggestion, and add TBBC to the list as it's also a restaurant with quality beer.

CCB seems fine with children being there, but my only word of caution is that there is a minimum of kid-things to do. Need to bring their own entertainment if you expect to drink more than one pint. I don't know how 7venth Sun feels about kids (never tried it) but if there's going to be another adult with you that doesn't care about the beer, there's a beach and a small downtown basically right there - long walk or short drive away.

Thanks for information. I will check out Peg's. We are still in the planning stages for Tampa, so I'm open to suggestions.

CCB should be fine for the kids. 7venth sun can get crowded pretty easily, so that may be more of an issue of the kid being comfortable around the crowds. As for Tampa Bay Brewing Company, i'm not so sure I want my kid right in the heart of Ybor regardless of the time of day.

7th sun is really small with only maybe 10 seats if that inside. If you are going to sit outside i dont see why the kids wont be ok. If its during the weekday then the place will be dead so they can go inside and see the small system in place. its pretty cool .

In reading the description of 7venth, it sounds like they're in an area with a few other businesses, restaurants. I was hoping if they all work together, then my wife and I could grab a pint or 2, and sit outside with the kids and eat. I knew they were small, with few seats, so a quick look at the inside sounds ok. Although I typically enjoy chatting with the brewers and owners, might have to sacrifice for the family. Although, it will be midweek.

there really isn't anything right there, hell the first time i went there i drove right by, my gps was telling me I was a asshat for missing it. They are just down the street from few restaurants. Its an old 50's era store front, but they have big plans for the place.

Unfortunately like Big Gene says, there really isn't much right there. We've taken the walk a few times to the area where Blur is at further down the road (near some of the restaurants), but it is a long walk and I'm sure the kids won't be too interested in that. If you have a car, its not much more than a few minute drive to the restaurants and some of the other brew pubs in the area.

We should have the Cigar City Brewpub open by March and kids will be welcomed and well taken care of, on top of making our own beers we are also making all of our own soft drinks and we can even put them in pints so the kids can feel cool like daddy.

Cool. I'll keep an eye on the website, and Facebook page for that. This would be ideal.

It doesn't look like the brewpub is going to make its opening this week. Plan on being at the taproom on Tuesday. Hoping to grab something special for growler day.

Kids will be in tow, so any good places to grab lunch near the taproom? Plan on going to Fort de Soto/north beach after, then up to 7venth, with dinner at Pegs. Big loop, but want to hit the area. Thanks

I wouldn't recommend hanging out at CCB with your kids, its essentially a bar. There is nothing for them there. Peg's is a different story, its also a restaurant and is family friendly.

Holy Hog is kind of close to CCB and does great BBQ.

On a side note, 7th Sun did recently expand a little into the next building over, so there is more room to sit/stand inside. It's still cramped getting to the bar on a busy night, but more room overall is always better.

Dunedin Brewery is close to 7venth Sun and has two great outdoor areas. The food is always good too. Have a great trip to the area.
