Planning on 3 day mini vacation for my birthday to Tampa Oct 2nd, 3rd (my Bday) and 4th. As of now I'm doing Cigar City, Tampa Brewing, Pegs and 7th Sun. Was going to do Saint Somewhere as well but I don't think they have a tasting room. If there are any bars, bottle shops or breweries I should hit up let me know. Cheers.

I think you've hit the main ones. I've been to Tampa several times and I can't stress enough how awesome and underrated Tampa Brewing Co. is.

If you're going to 7vnth Sun, go to Dunedin Brewery too. It's a block away. Some good beers, and they have good food too. I'm not sure about St. Somewhere (I haven't been up there yet) but I think they're doing limited tours & samples at least.

I haven't talked to him recently, but Greg Rapp was aiming to have his place up & running in Pinellas County by October. So I'd add that to your list if it happens. His OMG is amazingly delicious.

As I've posted here before, it's only a couple block's walk from TBBC to New World Brewery - good atmosphere & generally a pretty decent tap list.

Bottle shops - Total Wine & Whole Foods are around the block from CCB. Luekens if you're in Pinellas County. Kingdom & Winthrop Liquors in Brandon if you're over on the east side.

EDIT: Re-reading this, I think it seems a little confusing - New World Brewery is NOT actually a brewery. Don't know why it's called that. It's a bar with a nice patio, and just a cool place to hang out and drink some decent brews at the end of a night.

Mr. Dunderbak's near USF is a great beer-bar, they have 50+ taps and usually have some really interesting imports that you don't see anywhere else. Pretty decent german food as well if you're into that. I'll second the recommendation for Tampa Bay Brewing Co, it's a great place to grab a bite and they had some decent brews as well. There are World of Beer locations all over town now, but I prefer the Brass Tap in Brandon or Wesley Chapel if you find yourself in either of those locales and want to visit a beer-bar. Cold Storage Craft Brewery and Big Storm Brewery both just recently opened tasting rooms within the last couple weeks. Cold Storage is in Tampa and Big Storm is in Odessa. I've not been to either but I've had beers from both and they're average at best, nothing special. Southern Brewing is the local homebrew supply store and they just recently got a production license as well and started a nanobrewery with a tasting room, they are on Nebraska just north of MLK (very close to Cold Storage actually).

If you find yourself in Dunedin before 6, Eli's BBQ is a block away from both 7th Sun and Dunedin Brewery and is incredible!

Love German food! My Mom is from Germany so I might have to hit that up.

BBQ?! I might gain 10 pounds in 3 days the way this is going!:grinning:

I refuse to go to The Pit, too damn expensive (even with the new one opening in downtown Durham literally next to Fullsteam). Ive fallen in love with Hursey's in Mebane and Greensboro.

The beer here is improving (still needs to learn how to use hops correctly), but its still good.

The BBQ is a welcome improvement from the Midwest.

Skip Dunedin brewing, frankly. I've been continuously underwhelmed by them. Hit Leukens in Dunedin, but be careful not to spend all of your money. Best bottle shop I've found there. Cheers!

I realize this is just a difference of opinion, but I agree & disagree. Their regular stuff isn't always particularly impressive. But they have good food options, a lot of their "special releases" are tasty - especially the Sun & Sword (w/7vnth Sun). AND it's literally within a 90 second walk of 7vnth Sun. If it was out of the way, I don't know that I would bring it up. But if you're driving all the way out to Dunedin, I think it's well worth a stop.

Also - I wholeheartedly second the Mr. Dunderbak's recommendation! A must-stop if you're out that way.
