Thanksgiving is next week and just was wondering if you have any special brews planned for this big holiday of thanks! My gathering last year was a mix of a tea totalers, few boozers, a one glass of wine type , a crafty (me), and a straight up Labatt Blue Light guy. So I never really considered the main stream guy coming and he was my man in the beers department. I gave him Allagash Whites, one of my fav beers that I usually have some ( accessible I think).
This year for this guy I have Hamms, which is as basic as I want to buy.
I enjoy a big meal so I haven’t decided my Thanksgiving plan yet.
    Whats your plan……

Going to be at the in-laws for a few days so ill be on a bread and water diet.
If I do manage to pick something up I just hide it in a cabinet, pour in a cheap colored plastic cup, drink it warm. Its not enjoyable to me to have a lengthy discussion about the beer that I'm trying to enjoy.
Hoping others have a more upbeat pleasant response.

I took my in-laws to a brewery out where they live, I had a few freshes, my wife had a glass of wine, and 2 bottles of water for those old people with me :grimacing:

Ps if you post with a glass like this on Thanksgiving Day, we’ll know

It'll be the same as last year (and many years beyond). I like having a sour to cut thru all the butter and fat when it comes to turkey with trimmings. I have a couple cans of Jolly Pumpkin beers, and my wife will likely have wine if she's in a mood to drink.

Personally I've been building a sorta-hi-test shelfie sampler:
    1. Brooklyn Black Choc Stout
    2. Blvd Whiskey Barrel Stout
    3. Bells Expedition
    4. Port City Long Dark Veil black IPA

I plan on going to Benchtop's anniversary this weekend to secure some of the new releases: Wicked Walter variants and the stout/barleywine cuvee. Also want to get a 4 pack of the foeder Baltic porter they released last week.

Even with all this my extended family usually always secures some Troegs Mad Elf and some St Bernardus Xmas Ale - because its tradition. Just no more sixtels of Mad Elf - that was a messy year.

Having the meal here with the in-laws. Typically, my brother-in-law drinks whatever I buy. Most of the time it’s Mad Elf and Celebration. This year might have to be some stouts as I have pretty much cut out IPAs, which seemed to give me terrible heartburn.

I usually either go with a good traditional brown ale or winter warmer, and then either scotch or brandy afterwards. But, this will be my first sober Thanksgiving in many many years, and I haven’t really decided how to fill that particular void this holiday. Might see if I can order some kind of seasonal from Athletic since their good seasonal stuff is never available in stores in my area. Might also go for NA Black Butte Porter, which I’ve been enjoying recently. I’m open to suggestions from the NA crowd, if you’ve got any.

    Cheers :beers:

I usually like Belgian beer and stouts on Thanksgiving, although I might throw some lagers in, too, to switch things up from all of the other heavy food and beer.

Plan to bring a sixer of Celebration to the in-laws' house, maybe a bottle of Ralphius to accompany pie.

We usually crack a few good bottles spaced throughout the day. We typically start with a Cantillon (fruited, ideally), follow with a Belgian dubbel (Chimay red is my fave), and close things out with a big stout or barleywine (Cigar City or the Bruery).

I just was enjoying a sour this afternoon: light refreshing, not filling, and thought yea, this would be great with a big meal. Unfortunately I’m terribly immature and want to kick back and have some delic ipas during the pre dinner football games, then , watch the clock to ditch the guests, Hope family goes Black Friday shopping ( which is prolly a thing of the past with the internets and year round Black Friday),,, ,,,, ,,,, then nap in front of the tv

I picked up Thanksgiving Day at the group home, so I'll be cooking all morning and probably half of Wednesday as well. Nothing to drink until I get home, and then it'll probably be an English Mild I've been saving. Or maybe a wee dram of single malt. Or, if I get ambitious, a Mars Bar martini which I just discovered a recipe for. Hovever, I am planning to serve a "bread" pudding that's made with glazed donuts and topped with a bourbon maple sauce. And turkey with White Castle stuffing, which for some reason has become a house favorite. Bon appetit!

If you're up for a holiday spiced NA, the Santa Clausthaler is out now. I really liked it last year, but the spice seems stronger this year and less to my liking. (I think the label said that the spice flavoring is cranberry juice with cinnamon blended into the beer. I presume the beer is the regular NA Clausthaler because I didn't get any Cascade hops in the taste that are in the dry-hopped or the IPA versions.)

All of my wife's family getting together at her mom's house. Attendees run the gamut from vegetarian to carnivore, non drinker to craft maniac. I plan to bring along the following:-

    Great Notion Blueberry Muffin Sour
    Einstock Icelandic Winter Ale
    Straffe Hendrik Xmas
    Braxton Garage beer
    SA Old Fezziwig

No doubt the other crafties will bring something good, some from Tennessee.

    Happy Thanksgiving BA's!!
