Starting to get ready for Thursday. What beers are you all having?
Right now I’m thinking a wheatwine prior to dinner, just says harvest/thanksgiving to me. Trying to think of a beer for dessert that fits the moment but not too heavy given all the food!
Excited to hear what you all have lining up. Cheers everyone!!

Thinking of doing Thomas Hardys 50th and 2 JW Lees* ( i think 2013 and 2014) , but i planned last year and didn't end up drinking what i planned....So it comes with an asterisk.

    *Lineup subject to change

I haven't decided yet. I usually try to have a fruity sour to cut thru all the fat and provide a balance for all the umami, but don't have one in the fridge. I might look at Jolly Pumpkin's line-up; I haven' supported them for a while.

I'm working on Thanksgiving Day, so I'll be preparing a big dinner for the folks at the group home. The closest I'll get to alcohol that day will be slipping a couple ounces of Jim Bean Maple into my pecan pie filling. On the DL, of course.

Celebration during the day for sure. I definitely want something on the lighter side for dinner. Tank 7 was way too heavy for that last year. I'm thinking an Almanac Farm to Barrel. Also pilsners from Brewery X and a high ABV stout to cap off the night.

Im going to be with in-laws,its the land where fun goes to die. If you open a beer its just not worth it due to barrage of questions about what your drinking and why..
So no beer on Thanksgiving for me although I might need to be medicated

No specific lineup planned, but I'll probably start with a coffee stout, then have some sort of Belgian ale(s), then finish with a strong ale or barleywine of some sort.

The past 4-5 years now my brother in law and I keep saying we’re gonna split his last 750 of Victory Oak Horizontal, this one is from 2014 or 15 I believe. I really don’t remember though.

Every year without fail we fail at doing so…too full every year. But it gets better cause we say oh we’ll do it at Christmas; again we fail…

if we do finally do it this year I will post in the barley wine thread.

Same here with the plans changing. Has happened the last two Thanksgivings.

This year I plan to open a Vintage Bigfoot (barrel aged bigfoot blend) bomber while the turkey's in the oven and drink it until the Giants game comes on. I have a feeling I'll be needing another beverage by halftime of that. Probably a nice barrel aged stout

Probably some wine with dinner, but likely some Celebration throughout the day while cooking, and probably pop something big and special from the cellar - have a big SN Bigfoot ginger BA brew that sounds like it may need opening!

Surprise everyone wearing a nice sports jacket. you know, with the nice silk-lined chest pocket inside. If you don't have a nice thin flask, get one. Fill flask with a nice older Lagavulin and you'll be just fine. A dandy conversationalist!

May finally pull one of the Drafting Table barrel aged beers out of the fridge to enjoy that evening, but the more likely selection is a Side Project a la Table to be served while waiting on dinner.

Then I'll probably dip into a single barrel rye whiskey whenever I get home.

tentatively set for: P3 Rye Lager and a Kostritzer schwarzbier for early afternoon / pre-meal, either SP BdP or Grisette with dinner (pairs so well with a juicy turkey!), and afterwards is either going to be a Benthic can (chosen day of at random) or Lumberstruck can depending on what mood i’m in. cheers!

I just pulled a case of Three Floyds Alpha Klaus (Christmas Porter), a beer that I've been loving on since it showed up here in NYC 3 years ago. Roast & a beautiful hop bite, English malt & Mexican sugar, yep.

And I'm going to throw in either a Rodenbach Alexander or V&D Lambickx Kriek (or both) for my fruit kick, as well.

My wife and I will be visiting and my 'job' is to bring the beer. I will be bringing a mixed case of homebrewed beers:
    • Ekuanot IPA
    • Wet Hopped Harvest Ale (using freshly picked hops from my hop plant in the backyard)
    • English Bitter Ale
    • Belgian Dubble
    • Clone of Orval
    • Oatmeal Stout
    • Czech Dark Lager
Hopefully there will be a beer for everybody except the Bud Light drinkers ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

    Cheers!

In the morning I'm preparing brussells sprouts cooked in Boston Lager (while drinking a Boston Lager). Bringing the Sam Adams Holiday mixer plus some SN Celebration (and perhaps a Focal Banger if there's any left by then) to my parents for Thanksgiving dinner. Mixing in some bourbon as well!

Probably start the day with a Guinness Coffee, I think there's one left...?
Of course the annual viewing of Planes, Trains, and Automobiles prior to dinner will be happening, more than likely will be having a NB VR Juice Force with that.
I think that Wizard Sleeves sour I just got from Arkane on Saturday will pair pretty well.
If I'm still Thirsty after that....not sure yet....

Probably will start off with some German beers at my first get together. Not sure which yet tho.

2nd party I will shift to Celebrations and bigger beers. Will be sharing some BA beers. Going to bring a few bottles of BCBS.

Christmas beer on Thanksgiving: yea or nay?

i’d say it’s appropriate but i’d also argue that there is plenty of winter months ahead and that it’s time to finish up those autumn seasonals in the back of the fridge.

Sure why not, as long as it's a beer that fits the occasion of a T-Day meal, etc. To me that would eliminate a sweet spice Christmas beer.

As far as I'm concerned, you can drink Christmas beers as soon as Dollar Tree puts out their Christmas stuff. I think that was three weeks ago.

Probably gonna do a big stout to start the day off. Then alternate some lagers and farmhouse stuff. Finish off on another big beer; stout or strong ale. And, a bourbon side car. I typically skip dessert so I can load up on beer and liquor calories. Cheers.

Several pumpkin/yam beers to finish up- Lancaster Baked, Tröegs Master of Pumpkins, and Saucony Creek Maple Mistress. I have nowhere to go so will either have some wine or indulge some Celebration or Mad Elf. As it's a 4-day work break I also have a Weyerbacher Quad ready to go and some barleywines/wheatwines.

    Should be a good holiday.

As is tradition for me, I stopped by Tree House for some Thanksgiving. I got some fresh King Julius to start, their new Grodziskie, Wycinanki with the meal (along with my homebrewed Dunkelweizen), and a bottle of last year’s Amedee, their Belgian Dark Strong, that I felt was too hot last year with/as dessert. I’m sure I’ll mix in some other stuff too, TH or not

I always start on a new keg of homebrewed cider on Thanksgiving. Will drink some Celebration Ales and might drink a BCBS to make room for the new ones the next day and drown my sorrows after the Giants game.
