Props to the OP for mentioning Anchor Small Beer. I remember when I first saw the bottle and was intrigued since I had never heard of the style, and it was a small first step into me being more interested in brewing history and learning about diverse styles. It's been a few years since I've had one and I could only find it in SF on a rare occasion, but I hope they keep making it!

Per the other thread on this forum...

Wake up in cold sweats over a bad dream where every tap at my local wateringhole are IPA's. :grimacing:

It's all good. You're not the only one. Just look at Biscotti Break reviews. People drink Imperial Biscotti Break, but go under Biscotti Break to review it. Oops!

Yeah, but if they do disappear, it will mean life as we know has ceased to exist. End of days stuff going down.

You mean you don't like the "improved and civilized" imperial schwartzbiers that are dry hopped with cascade and citra and barrel aged in tequila barrels for 3 months? Come on, don't you know that American innovation is enlightening the world of beer??

Bell's Oarsman. I might be the only person in my town who buys it. In the summer I love mixing that beer with some waldmeister or himbeer syrup (German-style) and enjoy a low-cost sour.

English style bitters, milds etc; styles that usually have lower abvs than today's popular styles.

Blue Point ESB. It hasn't much been around in recent years, but they still make it now and then. Now that they're owned by ABINBEV, I worry that they'll drop it altogether.

Where are you getting your Waldmeister? I've found that harder to get than any of these damn beers!

Isn't that one still a byproduct of making Old Foghorn? If that's still being made, I bet you will still see Small Beer around (although you might just have to special order it at your particular store).

Yep, but according to their facebook posts they aren't brewing a whole lot of Foghorn to begin with, and who knows if they make Small Beer from every batch. I never saw it that often when I lived in the Bay Area, but I hope they keep it up!

I was hoping to try this beer for quite some time. I've given up hope.

Well, in Scotland the traditional terms 60/, 70/ ,80/ and 90/ are certainly on the endangered species list.

CCB tocaboga. Didn't see it for maybe 6 months. Now it is very rare that I do, even when I visit the Tampa area.

There's a humongous international market in Cincinnati called "Jungle Jim's". I buy it there when they have it (they don't always). One bottle of that stuff lasts me a couple years.

    What is being brewed instead?

    Cheers!

I agree wholeheartedly. These styles used to be fairly prevalent 15-20 yrs. ago and now are pretty much gone here in Wi. When questioning the beer guy at Discount in Milwaukee it was all about freshness. Actually I think it is all about sales volume. I really enjoyed Fuller's 1845 and pretty much anything by Bateman's. Virtually non-existent these days.
