There's been a dearth of talk about THE BEER. It's the whole POINT, man!! Okay, let's talk about the amazing beers we had all week at Tampa Bay Beer Week - what sticks with you, what was awesome, what brewery are you going to be seeking out from now on?

PLEASE for the love of all that is holy and boozy, NO complaints or talk of festival organization / lines / jerks. Beer only. Tasty, tasty beer. And try not to make any of your bros here feel (too) bad for landing a beer you didn't.

For me, Cycle brewed up the highlights. (It helped that it was cool enough out to enjoy imperial stouts.) The Beeramisu and Chocolate Covered Cherry, oh my. And I'm gonna say it - Chocolate Covered Cherry tasted better - to my palate - than Life Is Like.

Guest taps: I'd drink King Sue all day erry day. And Miami Madness. And PB King was the shocker - Three Sons will be my next first-time visit brewery.

Cycle beets were the highlight overall as well. I still love rarer dos, the pb batch 400 was fantastic as well.

Huna day beers, the huna treatment s along with final push and especially rum barrels aged penultimate push. A little taste of vanilla bean assassin didn't hurt either.

Hangover day it was all about hanaphu, had 3 pours of that. The boysenberry tripel was fantastic as well.

I no you didnt! Both were very good, which is better would be splitting hairs for me.

    Highlights for me.

Rapp OMG on Thursday was great.

From Cycle I thought the Beeramisu and the peanut butter brew were amazing. Wish I could have tried more but that line was too long considering what was at the bottle share. The Heatwave bottle share table was nothing short of amazing. Good people and good times.

From Huna Day I got Hunapoopoo and DB Hunapoopoo and would argue that the regular version was better. Wakefield's brews were amazing and DFPF didnt disappoint. I really enjoyed most of the handful of brews I was able to try. Missed out on TG but was able to sneak in late for Sosus which is much better on tap.

The highlight beer of the TBBW weekend for me was at 7venth Sun. The DB Hannahpoo added some creaminess to the Huna and was amazing.

I didn't try much, but Late Start's Kiwi Florida Weisse was wonderful. I wish I had been able to try the Tequila Sunrise weisse as well.

German Chocolate Cupcake from Angry Chair
Rum White Oak Pineapple IPA from CCB
    Strawberry Guava Berliner from 7venthSun

And the beer of the weekend for me was

Time Bomb Session IPA w/Citra and Nelson Sauvin hops from 7venthSun

I keep hearing about that cupcake beer from Angry Chair. Gonna need to hit that one up soon too. I've been limiting my brewery visits to a select few, because apparently I fear change. Time to branch out!

PEGs was the absolute highlight of the weekend for me. Everything pouring was fantastic (as always), the bottle share organized by @Heatwave33 was crazy fun and I got to hang out with a lot of buddies that I hadn't seen in a while. It was a beautiful day and the atmosphere couldn't have been more cordial. I had a friend with me who was new to the bottle share concept and he said afterward that it was one of the best times he has ever had since getting into craft beer. Really want to thank everyone that came out and shared the day, wish I could remember all the new friends I made that day .

I don't believe Angry Chair is open yet, but I do think they're very close (I think they're waiting on some permit or another?). I would call/Facebook to verify before planning a visit there.

    Great thread!

Loved everything I tried at Peg's on Friday. If I have one criticism it's that I think a lot of their BA stouts seem to taste pretty similar, so I can't say that one stood out to me, but all were terrific.

Highlights at CCB were DB Hunahpoopoo (just had 2 sips), and Miami Madness was terrific, which wasn't even on my radar going in but happened to be standing there at 1 pm.

Actually one of my favorites of the day was a blended Good Gourd Almighty with Mexican Cake. IMO much better than either of those beers alone.

Also big props to the guy next to the bottle line who shared his Life is Like and Neilsbohrium with my thirsty ass!

The coconut DDT at pegs was super delicious.

I was also really lucky and had a friend get an extra pour of mornin' delight for me while I was waiting in line to get in. That was delicious. Also having tried a couple of Wakefield's beers I regret not buying in on his reserve club or whatever it was called. I'm looking forward to him opening up his brewery so I have a reason to visit my family in South Florida more often

    Highlights for me:

    PFDF
    Miami Madness
    DB Hunahpoopoo
    Hunahpoopoo
    Rum Penultimate Push
    Penultimate Push
    Final Push
    Late Start Kiwi Florida Weisse
    Bootsy BA Sour (I think)
All Cycle beers except Peanut Butter, especially Chocolate Cherry
Probably missing more, but remember these most.

    Lowlights
Really wanted to try the Mazurt Stout, but it kicked. All they had was a Coffee Barleywine, which was terrible.
Guy who accidentally poured me Ghost of Huna rather than DB Hunahpoopoo at first. Took a big swig before realizing it...ruined my palate for 30 minutes, delaying my enjoyment of the real pour.

Overall I had a great time Saturday. It was way more crowded than I like, but we had a good group plan and I managed to get to try most everything I wanted. There was a lot of other great stuff I'd never had that I was able to try by just being smart and taking what the lines (or lack of) gave me. It was less than ideal, and far more crowded than we anticipated, obviously. But I feel my group adapted well and still made a great time of it.

Biggest regret: Not getting to try Ghost of Hunahpu. I really did want to take a shot at that.

Oh, also, that I totally ruined post-Cycle Friday, from the point at which my friend (probably, but I don't remember) told me "We should probably go" and onward. I'm pretty sure I owe her something awesome, like a puppy or a winning lottery ticket.

I thought Ghost of Huna was fantastic. The peppers were no where near as hot as people had been saying. Just right IMO.

It wasnt nearly as spicy as the release last year. Either the batch has mellowed or they toned the recipe back significantly...

This is correct. They are still building out. The exterior work on their building is about done. I spoke to Ryan (owner) last week and he said they're waiting on one last permit to come through so they can dig up the floors, but in new plumbing, etc. I think he's hoping for a July-August opening, but realistically I think it might be later.

    Top Beers from Hunahpu Day:

Final Push - Best coffee beer ever (and I did have KBS at HD as well)

Ghost of Hunahpu - So amazing. Want to try a larger pour to see how this compares to DB Huna and AB Huna

TN Whiskey Aged MAZURT - Wow. Did not expect a beer I had never heard of to be the third best beer of the day. Sorry if you didn't get any, it's because I drank it all. There was no line at all when we went, so my group ended up chatting up the guys pouring for like 10-15 minutes and we proceeded to drink 3 or 4 pours each.

2014 Hunahpu - Best year yet? Possibly! Need to work on getting some bottles via trade.

GOH was not as spicy as in the past, but to someone like me who doesn't like spicy stuff it was still an unpleasant surprise to take a nice swig of it unexpectedly. Hunahpu's already pushes the limits of what my palate can handle, so even a weakened version of GOH really takes its toll on me.

2014 Hunahpu's was fantastic. Probably the best fresh version yet. I should have put that on my highlight list for sure. Angry Chair stuff as well.

TN Whiskey MAZURT was AWESOME. I had their coffee barleywine first, then went back a few hours later for their stout. I had one sip and turned around and got another pour. I told them I preferred it to the Founders KBS that was pouring right next to them.

You know, I didn't love the beers I had at Peg's as much as everyone else did. I even had a RareR and it just wasn't as great as all the hype and reviews made it out to be. The bottle share in the other hand was flat out amazing. By far my favorite beer from the bottle share had to be the growler of No Crusts that some one brought. Delicious!

It was a long 4 days for us but the group I went with came out of the trip with a HUGE respect for Rapp! We tried several of their beers at the OMG release and they were all amazing!! Needless to say we are very excited to see what they do in the future and we would definately go back.

We had some great beers at CCB and other places but the beers we drank at the multiple bottle shares were insane! KBBS was the highlight for sure but I think I got to try every rare beer ive ever wanted to try multiple times. Fou Foune, Rare, Abraxas, Prop, the list goes on and on and on and on and on. Our share at Peg's plus Thursday, Friday, and Saturdeay night at the Hilton were 4 of the best shares ever imho! Thank you to everyone who made them so awesome!

You are a good man. That shit is delicious!

Sadly, I was one of those Florida folks that hadn't had it before. Actually, the only Funky Buddha beer I'd had before was Snack Attack (which doesn't really count since it's a collab). Luckily, I was able to do some trading with some fine south florida BA'ers and now have bottles of Nib Smuggler, MBCP, and Veruca Snozzberry to try.

Love that place. LOVE it. Not a lot of fancy tricks and weird treatments, but that man KNOWS. HIS. STYLES. If the board says it's an ESB, it's gonna be a perfect ESB. That Gose tho. There are not many beers I think I could drink every day, regardless of weather or how I'm feeling, but I could buy Gose by the keg and drink it daily. I would like to use it instead of Gatorade on my long runs.

Actually, I wonder if they sell kegs.....
