Minnesota has to be Surly Furious...if not Surly Abrasive ha
Alabama = Good People Snake Handler IIPA
Hardywood Barrel Gingerbread Stout-classic deliciousness
O'Connor El Guapo IPA-only available on draft right now but worth finding
Star Hill Bourbon Barrel Cryptical- only seen at brewery in bottles but fantastic
Surly Furious in MN
From Alabama, I would have to go with either Good People Snakehandler or Avondale Saison.
VA is kind of tough, can't pick just 1 (not even just 1 per style):
stout - Alewerks Cafe Royale and Wolf Hills Chocolate Milk
ipa - Alewerks Bitter Valentine, Mad Fox Orange Whip and (brand new) COTU PocaHOPtus
other - Hardywood Farmhouse Pumpkin and Blue Mtn Mandolin
super excited to see what the upcoming Strangeways (old Farmers Cabinet brewers) will be doing in '13
Evolution's Rise Up Stout, hands down the best beer ever brewed in Delaware, even though they recently moved the brewery to Maryland. If that disqualifies Evolution as a Delaware brewery, then Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA would be next on my list as best brew in the state.
WI: Tyranena Whose Your Daddy. Only because it is more rare.
That's what I heard.. can't wait!
PA: Fathead's Head Hunter IPA and Troegs Nugget Nectar.
Philly Pale Ale > Nugget Nectar, any God damned day of the week. Nugget Nectar isn't even good. It's average and overrated at best. Better when aged, because it's over malted as shit. Troegs blows, anyway. Stop lying to yourselves.
Tell us how you really feel.
Rhode Island: Grey Sail Flying Jenny Pale Ale
Where I'm from:
Scotland - Jarl (Fyne Ales) on cask
U.K. - Jaipur (Thornbridge) on cask
Where I live:
New York - Flower Power (Ithaca)
U.S.A. - Abner (Hill Farmstead)
WA = Bourbon Abominable from Fremont, hands down.
from Louisiana: NOLA Hopitoulas
There is so much to choose from I dont think I can, so I'll list three:
- Brooklyn Black Ops - bourbon aged stout
- Lagunita's Maximus - Imperial IPA
- Element Red Giant - I have no idea what it is but it changes as it warms up - MUST TRY!
CT was Ghandi-Bot but right now Im really digging Two-Roads in Stratford, CT particularly Road 2 Ruin IIPA... It's fantastic!
New York - Flower Power
Came here to say that same thing. You read my mind shane.
Love Head Hunter, but I have to go with Bodhi for Ohio.
While wholeheartedly agree with this statement, I have to give some props to Yazoo Sue.
Washington: Bourbon Abominable from Fremont brewery
Too tough to call being from Michigan... I will have to opt out of this...
Tough call for me too. Haven't identified the BEST from Ontario. However, for my adopted state of MI I have a couple of bests:
Best - Backwoods Bastard
Runner up - Kuhhenn's DRIPA
I agree Except for VT.... Heady Topper!!
MT: Bozone Select Amber Ale from Bozeman Brewing Company in beautiful Bozeman, MT
From NY: Ithaca Flower Power.
I'm drinking one now and the tropical fruit nose never disappoints!
Personally, I think that beer is terrible and it's '#1 ranked beer in TN' status speaks poorly of both TN brewing and beer ratings....but I'm a negative nancy.
On a positive note, I'm looking forward to trying some of Yazoos beers with Brandon if I get the chance. Blackberry Farms beers as well, although I'm assuming the price point may be prohibitive.
While my fellow New Jerseyans make great points with Flying Fish Exit 16 and Kane Head High, I think River Horse Oatmeal Milk Stout deserves a vote. If Flying Fish were to bring back Exit 11, the matter would be settled.
Also, Ithaca Flower Power easily stands up to Pliny the Elder in a taste test! Both great beers.
Kiwi is better then hoptonious. And there is no way Gansett makes the best beer in RI
Cali...with california pumping out some of the best hoppy beers known to man, kern river's CITRA screams, "look at me...I am californias best beer!"
Ca: Alpine Brewing - Keene Idea. (Double Nelson. Perfect.)
Kiwi is good, but I prefer Hoponius Union. Does RI have any good beer??
Flying Fish Exit 16 Wild Rice Double IPA
Massachusetts- High & Mighty "Fumata Bianca & nero". ive come to love both of these beers this year
Gansett does there best work in the sesonals. love em
From Michigan, either Kuhnhenn BB4D or BBBW. I'd pour out a bottle of KBS if it were filled with fresh BBBW. Cheers all!!
Kentucky, West Sixth IPA (draft)
