bring the Black Magick when you visit
Lawson's Finest: Double Sunshine.....Kiwi is up there. Maple Tripple (thank goodness it's a 1x per year beer - can only afford it that often)
Hill Farmstead - Double Galaxy , Society & Soitude #4 (over #5), Civil Disobedience, my keg of Edward
Alchemist - Heady Topper
MN- Surly Abrasive for sure
I've been quite pleased with most offerings from Westbrook & RJ Rockers (Coast makes some fine brews as well).
Westbrook makes a great 'everyday' IPA, and RJ Rockers' Son of A Peach is a great summer seasonal (they just released an 'imperial' version called Impeachment).
Hell yeah that's a tremendous beer (in a style i generally don't even like). That and Fremont Bourbon Abominable, Old Schoolhouse Brewer's Reserve Stout came immediately to mind...
WI: toss-up between my avatar (CW BBBW) or NG Belgian Red...two vastly different beers, but both awesome!
I'm with the BBomb So so good.
Just had my first Abraxas and damn if it wasn't delicious. One of the best stouts in the country. Had never had it before...lets hear it for extras! HUZZAH!
Toppling Goliath pseudo sue from the ever improving state of Iowa.
TG knows beer.
Pretty Things-Meadowlark IPA for 2012, it changes every year....
I agree with all of the above aside from Abrasive but I am far from the norm on that opinion as I've found out. Had it on multiple occasions at various levels of freshness, just not getting it. Good yes, great ehhhhhhhhh not quite, honestly my first time I was going to drain pour it but I decided to instead pour it in a bag and throw a steak in there with it. Makes a KILLER steak marinade though, so when it comes out I buy it for that.
DC: On the Wings of Armageddon
Glad you enjoyed it! Pricey @ $19 a pop but freakin delicious. The barrel aged version is coming in a few weeks!
Wisconsin: NG Hometown Blonde Enigma
I thought Luther from Lakefront was phenomenal, though I don't know if I'll ever see it again.
All I've had by them was the Bourbon Barrel Porter and it was delicious.
I can agree with all of this, maybe Larry for MA
I don't know of any solid beers here in California
I was impressed!!
NC: Event Horizon
I'm from Ohio so no doubt in my mind it's boris the crushe
Best in RI??? YES!!! Comparible to Zombie Dust?? Not quite...
RI - Grey Sail Stargazer RIS
Although there are very few (if any) other RI beers I have been really pleased with since I moved here
I'll try. Voodoo needs to release it soon! Been waiting for the release date.
Contest over... We have a winner!
Ontario - Muskoka Mad Tom IPA
Canada - Dunham Leo's Early Breakfast IPA
this is some pretty good stuff.
Here in Kentucky
BBC Bourbon Barrel Stout
West 6th IPA
Yep, just about anything from FFF.
Illinois - bcbs and variants for limited, revolution anti-hero for easy to obtain beers.
My favorite from Fl: Moat Water. Absolutely delicious. I still haven't tried Hunahpu or any Peg's Cantina beers though.
Dragonmead's Final Absolution
Founder's Dirty Bastard
Short's Soft Parade
All three are very different styles/flavors, and are some of my favorites.
If I am trying to win a trophy Double Sunshine or Heady Topper will not represent Vermont. Too much competition with DIPAs. Celia Saison will take gold in the Gluten Free category.
Yes I just took a best beer thread into GF land... I want something shiny to put on display.
Against The Grain is clearly THE upcomer in KY. Lick The Blade DIPA is impressive. They made a great Smoked Porter too.
From Ohio....I'd go with White Rajah IPA from Brewkettle, but Rum Barrel Oil Of Aphrodite is a super stout. Big stouts...TOUGH competition. Rajah...however...matched up to the BEST IPA's...including Pliny, Sculpin, Zombie Dust, Headhunter, Hopslam. Jackie O's Mandala Citra...a DIPA,is a lot like White Rajah...lots of Citra Hops. It's so far a sometimes draft..but I did get a growler.
I'd think Michigan goes with a big Stout and BA Plead The Fifth ( Dark Horse) and Canadian Breakfast Stout( Founders) are the best "Big Stouts" I've seen bottled. The Kopi Luack version of Jackie O's Oil of Aphrodite is at that level but was a "one-time" draft..no growlers or bottles.
Id say New Belgium La Folie
Cane & Ebel
from Two Brothers Brewery in Warrenville, Illinois.
My favorite of all time...
west sixth IPA- Kentucky
Pliny the Younger
Come at me bro
Absolutely love La Lupulosa! I drank 3 of them last night at BCB Tasting Room and brought four 22oz bombers home to drink later. Without a doubt, one of the best IPA's being brewed at the moment.
Tough... It would be hard to narrow down to one NG Enigma, Belgian Red, and Dancing Man are all amazing, wonderful beers. Ale Asylum Bedlam is hands down the best Belgian-style IPA I've ever had, and a fantastic beer independent of that qualification anyway.
So I have to choose 1..... Going with Dancing Man. I'd pick it over Weihenstephaner, Franziskaner, Paulaner, Hacker Pshorr, any day of the week.
(Except maybe when there's a sale of the 8 pack cans of Paulaner for 5 bucks. that's kind of hard to pass up.)
