Oh they definitely include all the ones I would expect, just not in that order. And the exclusion of Kuhnhenn, Deschutes, Hair of the Dog, and Southern Tier is a bit of a letdown. Oh well

What is "best?" Overall quality of beer? Or most sold? I don't think many people on this site would put New Belgium that high on the list, for example.

Exactly, nor would I even put Sam Adams on the list. But as I said, it's just my opinion. Not like NB or SA don't make good beer, just not "Top 25" in my opinion.

    But, no Firestone Walker?

I think its a great list. I'd change the order around a little bit, but everyone has their own opinion when it comes to these kinds of lists.

I think at the very least Firestone Walker and Deschutes should be on there to replace New Belgium and Sam Adams

The cover article is new, but the slide show is recycled. It's been around for at least a few months.

Firestone Walker is the most glaring omission I see. I think Three Floyd's may be a little high at 12. On the list? Maybe. But 12? No way.

This list should be classified for what it is, the 25 most popular breweries on whatever foodie website started it. There is absolutely no actual quality comparison here.
IMO Cigar City is the only brewer that would actually qualify here for craft of ale.

OK so on second look Green Flash, Ommegang, and Allagash may qualify too but only on the lower tier!

A lot of good breweries to give the nod to these days. I'd have trouble making a top 25 to be honest. Regardless, I'd feel like some good ones were left out. Can't complain...it's great for us.

I've never had #21 or #22, but have had multiple from all the others aside from Russian River (assuming on rep they belong!!). Other than that, not many to argue with, though my order would be alot different. Really good list though.

I personally would absolutely have Deschutes on the list as well.

I think a lot of people overlook Boulevard. That brewery really does things right. Even their standard offerings are very well done. And the Smokestack series...holy crap.

This list loses all credibility by including Sam Adams/Boston Beer Company....gained a little bit back though by recognizing Cigar City.

Loses all credibility by including them? I love Sam Adams, I think they make some awesome beer.

Yes, I know--so many BA members, so many pet peeves. Given that the list is necessarily limited, no matter what the quality may be, someone is going to be left out. When I saw the slide show two months ago, I kind of wondered what some of the breweries were doing on the list (no, BBC was not one of them--their place is well earned), but then, looking a bit closer at the ones I did not recognize changed my mind on some of them. I'd have to go through the entire list again, but I don't recall any gratuitous inclusions that would not have made most drinkers' top 50. Since all such lists are necessarily subjective and exclusionary, I suggest we move on from this futile exercise. YMMV

Definitely a good list, I was just surprised at Boulevard at #3. I must be really missing out on their better beers over here! I've only tried like two.

There are going to be complaints with every "best breweries" list, but no Firestone is unforgivable.

I would call this the most popular craft breweries. I have a special place in my heart for Westbrook; however, obviously Westbrook isn't as big as some of these other craft breweries. I can find most of these brands at my local beer store. Again, most popular, not necessarily the best.

From those pictures alone, Stone looks like an airport terminal, New Belgium a ski resort, and Victory a fast food restaurant.

Aside from usually being overcarbonated, most of their beers are spot on for respective styles. So, yes, you must really be missing out on their better beers. Not sure who should be blamed for the latest collaboration disaster either.

Their beer is not bad; not worthy of top 25 CRAFT status though. I'll admit I am still jaded by their recent decision to rewrite American history for their own financial gain. Taste preference though is a matter of opinion. You think SA is awesome; I don't.
