    Hello Everyone,

I've been seeing a lot of threads and stories about the snobbishness and narcissism of some members in the craft beer community. In fact, I recently read an article that detailed a near-riot at Cigar City Brewing on Hunahpu Day after many craft-beer enthusiasts were not able to get a bottle of Hunahpu. I also saw a thread about a young man who misrepresented the contents of a bottle of TG Assassin in a trade. I'm posting this thread because I feel that it's important that we not only highlight the shortcomings of the craft beer community but also mention the kindness and generosity of many of its members. To illustrate this I have a short story to tell.

I was waiting in line for BCBS at the only store in town that was selling it. I woke up late and arrived after 50 people were already in line. The owner surprised everyone by revealing that he was selling not only the BCBS variants but also Zombie Dust, Black Note, KBS, and a few other rare beers. While waiting, I struck up a conversation with the man in front of me, a 35-year-old gentlemen (about ten years my senior), father of two daughters. We started talking after he returned to the line from getting two shopping baskets; I had saved his spot so he could get a basket for each of us. He seemed like a nice man, but the kindness he was yet to show me defied all expectations of what I had already come to expect from the craft beer community's members. When he got to the distribution-counter, there was only one bottle of KBS left. I had previously told him that I couldn't wait to try KBS and was looking forward to getting a bottle. Because he had already had it before, he let me have it; this was especially surprising because he had told me a few minutes before that it was one of his favorite beers and he hadn't tasted it in a while.

Just thought this was a nice story to share. Merry Christmas!

There are a ton of awesome people on this site, there is also some not so awesome people. I like hearing stories like this and the generosity of others to hopefully outweigh all the negatives as of late.

Its craft beer, its ment to be shared....Sharing it with others is my favorite part.

It's great to read an anecdote like this after all the usual BCBS madness stories!

As with most things in life there for every ugly incident that gets attention, there are a thousand cool stories that no one ever hears about. Merry Christmas back at ya.

Cool Story, I was expecting a reaction like Daffy Duck grabbing the Genie bottle and stomping on Bugs Bunny, screaming "Mine, Mine, Mine!!!!"

I recently received unexpected Christmas awesomeness from @302BeerGuy and @TongoRad , two fine examples of BA generosity. I can't wait to send it back in their direction!!!

I arrived 10 minutes after the stated sale time for one of the weekly Heady Topper releases. To my surprise, the line was gone and so was the Heady. I was pretty disappointed, as I had already purchased the ingredients to brew a HT clone and needed some cans to propagate a yeast starter. The lucky buyers were all in line to check out, some with whole cases, some with a couple of four packs. I passed by them all grumbling in dismay and walked out the door on the way to my car. I was surprised when the last guy in line, who had two 4-packs, came chasing after me. He let me take one of his 4-packs! Super generous....I'm so thankful that this kind of generosity exists in beerdom.

I just started trading about 6 months ago. For my first trade, I started talking to a guy who was coming my way and we met IP at a local brewery. Since then, we have been sending beers back and forth without keeping tabs on who is 'up' on the other. I find something interesting locally, I send it his way. Likewise, he does the same. That's what it's all about!

Thanks for the mention, but honestly I feel like I am just a small part of all of the generosity that goes on in this community. I've also been the recipient of a random gifts like that, and it just feels good to pay it forward whenever you can. Enjoy those beers, and have a great Holiday season. Cheers!

Shortly after I first joined this site, i mentioned somewhere that I was interested in trying Westy 12, and a very generous BA offered to send me a bottle. Still kinda shocked at such generosity from a complete stranger.

I think that this site has an extraordinary number of exceedingly generous and kind people.
Additionally, the forums here are remarkably lacking in jerk offs.
This site is a great "face" for the craft beer community.
