I love the "what beer are you drinking now" thread

I love talking to strangers in bars and trying to one up each other on beer experience stories

I suppose the thing I enjoy the most is growing up in an era when good beer meant imported beer and being able to watch the transition to where good beer means something brewed in the neighborhood.

A few things that keep me coming back for more:

Sharing a beer with close friends and family, and especially turning them on to something new--or vice versa. I'm on somewhat of a quest to find the beer I can split with my father that we'll both rave about. This just means we need to keep trying.

Revisiting and returning to old favorites. I especially love discovering nuances in beers that I've been drinking for a long time.

Fresh IPAs, crisp pilsners, the subtle roast in a stout and toasted coconut in an aged barleywine.

Growler fills and good beer in sixers, and those bottles for a special occasion or just because.

Visiting breweries, craft bars and bottle shops while traveling, and being reminded that my local and hometown scenes are also incredible destinations in their own. Right now someone is traveling across the country to drink a beer brewed a bike ride's distance from me. (And that someone was me when I travel.)

Meeting other Xican@s/Latin@s & other POC into craft. Believe it or not folks but this hobby of ours can be rather alienating if you do not fit a certain demographic profile...

...and, on that note, having my tastes, my perceptions, my beliefs and preferences challenged both by what's in my glass and by those I'm around while enjoying it.

    Salud!
