I'm on midnights - my Day 1 will be consumed tomorrow morning for sure, but it sounds like some of you late nighters are going to beat me to the punch.

 

Good morning Locals - looks like I get to welcome us to Summer Sixer 2018 - the opening salvo starts off on the lighter side - a lighter fruited beer with barrel treatment from @JNForsyth. Gorgeous amber/red exploding with cherries - more sweet than tart. Utterly delicious expression of cherries. The waxed cap is marked but I do not recognize the marking.

This is delicious.

That beer was first in their initial barrel club, each bottle was hand painted too but I see that didn't survive the wrap even with the saran barrier.

Also, I'm not sure if I mentioned this in the letter but you can drink in any order you like, I just numbered the bottles as a way to match up to the descriptions on the sheet.

Day 1 has been staring me down for awhile now. If I can get it out of the fridge before my wife gets home, she will be really happy. And, I was thirsty for a beer with my lunch, so here goes...


I knew what this one was from the get go. 12oz bottle helped tip me off along with the glassware he sent me. Plus my sender @CBrodbeck is from the east coast of Florida. Something tells me there might be some more FB in my 6er.


This beer has loads of peanut butter aroma and is really jammy. I am getting strawberry jam, which for the record beats the hell out of grape jelly on a PB&J. The beer is a bit boozy for only being 6.4%, but I like it. I ticked this one when I was in TPA in late April, but I really wished I had room to bring back a 4 pack to drink another bottle. Thanks to Charles, I get to drink it once again! Cheers @CBrodbeck! I can't wait for the next 5 days!!!

This is correct. You missed numerous handshakes and shenanigans from me, @Kramerbarthomer, @vitaminvert, and @Jawnnm. Hopefully you were not the person who vomited all over the entrance to the men's bathroom one hour into the first session.

 

Here was my day 0 beer. I forgot to take a picture before the reveal. I liked this beer a lot. Good tartness, very bright and refreshing.

Another sour. Tasting some oak barrel in there for sure. Doesn't taste fruited at all. No clue what this is, but I'm digging it.

East bank from Casey! I've had very few Casey beers in my life, but they've all been great. Thanks for a great start @KyleDavis!

Appears to be 6 days of fun, some Houston love and 2 sets of #rar #L4L pieces of swag. My set is now complete thanks to @rspauldi and not letting @Corriecrafts use my locals glassware when he comes to the crib to drink.

Spent the day on a boat collecting water samples - not a bad way to spend a Friday afternoon. Came home and cracked this guy open from @PassMeAZima .



Poor lighting in the photo, but the beer pours a dark brown with a caramel head. Chocolate flavor and as it warms up I get a barrel aged burn to it. The cap says that it's a Great Divide Brewing Company beer, but I haven't figured out which one yet. Reveal to come.

 

Will someone send this man a real beer glass!

 

Well guys, been a long time since I've been active in here (#slacklife). Time to start paying attention again cause I was jumped in to this round by a Russian Mob Boss!! aka @andreizm and not only did he send me an awesome box, he explained to my dumb southern ass how to post a pic on this damn site again!..

Day 1 from @smanson56.... blacked out cap, super sour, lots of berries....

 

Pint glass is where its at, so versatile!

 

Day 1 from @dannyfayy, 750 cork/cage. I thought it was a sour, but it wasn't very sour at all, very smooth and clean, with a little tartness. Definitely oak aged, and got a little bit of a wine like vibe the warmer it became. My knowledge of sours is next to none, so my closest guess from what I've had/seen was Casey The Cut something something...



Good enough me, I must have been picking up the wine characteristics from the grapes. Nice an refreshing on the hottest day of the year here.Thanks Dan!

 

But that's not all for today! Even though @dannyfayy said I could consume whenever, this extra is labeled 1, so down it goes with day 1! Jammy black currants for days! Not a clue who or what, but I could crush this multiple times in one day, sofa king gewd!



This is now my second sour from Dancing Gnome, and this is just as killer as the first. Maybe better, those currants tho... Thanks once again Dan!
