Golfs first major is rapidly approaching, and this is part one for this years bottle pools I put together, see past formats......

The format has changed a bit over time, and we will be sticking with the format as it was for the last major(PGA). Participants will all draft two golfers in a snake style format. The ante will be the same as in the past majors, a bottle that would trade roughly the equivalent of a CCB Hunaphu. For anyone not familiar with Huna, it's a one day, brewery only release (BA rated 100) that sells for $25. If you look at the prior pool links above, you can see what others have put up as past entries. The bottle you put up is your only requirement for entry, however I highly encourage some local "extras" in addition to your ante.

I've already checked in with the guys who participated in last years pools, and we have a "full field" already and will not be adding any new participants at this time.

Each participant will select two (2) golfers in a "snake" style type draft, once selected that golfer is no longer available. The winners will be calculated two ways and split the prize pool. If you win on both sides, you only get the better of your two finishes. There will be 4 winners, first and second on each side.

    1. The total amount of prize money your two golfers win combined.

    2. The combined placement score of your two golfers, with the lowest placement scores winning. Example, if your two golfers finish in 8th place and 17th respectively, their combined score is 25. If one or both of your golfers misses the cut, they will receive a score equal to the number of players who made the cut plus 1. So if one of your golfers missed the cut and the cut line was 44 golfers, your score for that golfer would be 44 to combine with whatever place your other golfer finishes in.

If you're lucky enough to win, you can draft your own bottle provided it's available when your turn to "bottle draft" comes up if you don't want to ship. Other than that, everybody ships.

    Cheers and Good Luck all.....

    Let's get the party started.

I probably won't be attending the masters this year so, apologizes for the lack of swag and pickups ahead of time!

Also the azaleas suck this yr.

Moving this to the main thread for clarity.

Might as well start the first side bet. First golfer to get an ace ( if multiple guys hit one in the same round it goes to the guy who hit it on the earlier hole) gets a bottle of Prop 16 + some Chicago locals.

No need to pick golfers, your golfers for this side bet will be whoever you draft.

I was going to wait till Sunday for a little more clarity status wise on Jason Day specifically, and there are usually other things that crop up as well but if the guys with early picks want to start that's fine with me. The "draft clock" won't start till Sunday:wink:

I think I have a lot of participants text numbers to help speed things along when we get moving. Also, everybody should have gotten an email from the Fantasy Football Toolbox confirming the random draft order I copied above. If you didn't get it please beermail me your updated/correct email address. If you don't think I have your cell number for follow ups on your draft turn hit me with that too.

    Just a reminder.......

As before, you can only win on one side of the pool, getting the higher of the two payouts if you do end up winning on both sides. In the event you finish in the same finish order, (i.e. second place on both sides) you get the payout from the highest $$$ won side of the pool and everyone moves up a spot on the combined score side of the pool to determine winners.

Payouts are to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place on both sides, everybody (including winners) bottles are in the bottle draft. If your turn as a winner is up in the bottle draft and you don't want to ship, you can draft your own bottle. If your bottle gets drafted before your turn to draft, you ship.

First place for each side gets 7 boxes, second gets 3 each, and third gets 1 each

Draft will go like this.......Most prize money won is drafter A, second most money won is B, third most money is C. Best combined finish score is 1, second place finish is 2, and third place is 3.

    A11AA1B22B1AA11AC32B1A

    A...drafts 1,4,5 12,13,16, and 22nd
    1...drafts 2,3,6,11,14,15, and 21st
    B...drafts 7,10, and 20th
    2...drafts 8,9,and 19th
    C....drafts 17th
    3.....drafts 18th

With regard to Jason Day, from my understanding a player can pull out up until the day of or before the event?

Tiger for instance can be on the roster but withdraw after he pusses out because he had a few bad practice rounds and claims his back/vagina hurts or he didn't "activate his glutes".

So my question is to John. Are we just waiting until Sunday to see if Jason verbally commits even though he very well could pull out later in the week? If so, what happens to the player that chose him? Do they get another golfer? After everyone else has picked theirs? How would it work?

My plan was to wait until Sunday so we hopefully get a little more clarity on the field and that should give us plenty of time to draft. Jason Day's situation is the obvious biggest issue, Tiger still hasn't pulled out yet although I don't think he'll get drafted unless it's very late and somebody wants to take a flier on him.

In the interest of fairness, if somebody has a player that withdraws they will get to choose another player. If that occurs AFTER we draft, then they pick from whomever went undrafted on a first come/first served basis if there are multiple WD's. In the event somebody pulls out who has already been drafted WHILE the draft is ongoing in the days leading up to The Masters, they can substitute out for a new selection from the field of golfers not drafted yet as soon as they can. Golf is a game of honor gents, if there's any late breaking news I would ask that you post it here for the benefit of all in this respect.

    Fair enough?
