Every IPA/DIPA I've drank has sucked since I had a 1UP yesterday afternoon.

How many IPA's have you had since yesterday afternoon is the real question?

I always find it odd whenever breweries do tap takeovers within the same county they are located in. Why go to that bar/restaurant when the brewery itself is only a couple minutes away? I guess you can argue that the takeover while have variants or rare beer that's not on tap at the brewery itself but it'll always be a head-scratcher to me whenever I see places like The Bruery do a thing at the Anaheim Iron Press.

Four Sons' first anniversary is coming up this Saturday and they're trotting out their first batches of barrel aged beer. Hoping they won't overcharge for it **COUGH**beach city**COUGH** since I'd really like to try them.

Man, I'm hoping bottles last. Won't be off work until around 530ish, I'll be working around the area but unsure about making a stop in uniform :flushed:.

Two questions about Four Sons. 1) Anyone know if the "Beer Release" section means they are tapping, selling bottles or both? I noticed they said "special anniversary bottle in the lower right. 2) Any honest opinions on Four Sons and your belief their barrel program will be good? Not a lot of ratings on here, but untapped seems to like them.

True though bottle count is unknown. A barleywine in red wine doesnt seem like it would attract people out of the wood works but with beer releases now a days its unpredictable.

    1) The Beer Release will just be stuff on tap. The only special bottle release they're doing is just the barley wine.

    2) I really like Four Sons, they're a really solid brewery in a city that doesn't really have that many good option. That's the best word I can use to describe them. A solid brewery with solid beers on tap, I haven't really been disappointed by them—other than being fans of the Kings.

Although on a county-wide scale I don't think they can really hold their own against such places like Bottle Logic, The Bruery and Noble Ale Works; they're just not there yet. But they are not mediocre either, being much better than places like Beach City, Old Orange and Anaheim.

As for their barrel aging program, I'm incredibly apprehensive but I'm curious to try it. They haven't really talked about it much on social media, other than to say they've started one, and there's no real information on what their background with barrel aging is. It's an incredibly dicey endeavor and it can turn out to be incredibly mediocre like the aforementioned Beach City or they might really have something on their hands.

The BA Barleywine is fantastic.... the wine barrels do so much for this beer, it's almost unbelievable! I had a taste tonight.

Move over Midwest, here comes HB!

I need to make it by 4 Sons more often. I live so close.

Here's my problem though, it seems as though 4 Sons reaches a lot more than just craft beer lovers(Read:Brodawgs) so the crowd just isn't always my thing. Maybe I'll drop by at some slower times.

Yeah, my girlfriend lives pretty close to there, but the Bro/909ers (Bro-ners?) have been my main deterrent for most things HB related.
