I love "dank" IPAs and IIPAs. Please help me find more of them.

In my world, an example of a beer with excellent "dankness" would be Lupulin River from Knee Deep Brewing. This is the brewery that talks about making IPA with "an aroma that resembles a cat that has peed in a pine tree." There's a body odor-ish, earthy thing going on in that beer that I find immensely alluring and palatable. I also got a bit of "dank" nose from last year's Chasin' Freshies from Deschutes.

Using that definition of "dank," what other beers do you think qualify as excellent examples?

It does...now...is "dank" the safety-meeting flavor/smell?...I'd hate to think that in safety meeting we couldn't come up with more descriptive ways of relating it to the original meeting of dankness...is anybody picking up what i'm putting down or have I had too many safety breaks and now, since I'm out early, Maudite's...?...

Yes indeed. I too have enjoyed my share of safety meetings. "Dank" was the term to reference very high quality ingredients in those meetings when I used to partake. So, natural progression for me into my beers.

Wow. I do not associate "dankness" with Mosaic. Chinook all day. With some Simcoe (used as a bittering hop I assume).

Both the beers OP mentioned use mosaic hops if I am not mistaken. Cat piss is a dead giveaway. Another more accesable ipa that uses mosaic well is victory hop ranch.

Next to Other Half Mosaic, Hop Ranch is my favorite mosaic beer

Knee Deep has the "dank" thing going on for a ton of their IPAs. Try their Breaking Bud for a similar nose. Also Otter Creek-Lawson's Double Dose collab would also qualify.

Hmmm. I find no dankness in Hop Hunter --- but I can say that beer definitely ain't my thang.

Mosaic is pretty much the last hop I would use to describe "dank".

Simcoe, absolutely. Mosaic, not at all.

I get more citrus/tropical fruits with Mosaic hops, and do not associate dankness with Hop Ranch (at least not primarily).

Perhaps we have different definitions of "dank"? I think more piney/cat-pissy/weed-y. From my handy-dandy hop guide that I use most often:

    "Mosaic (US)
    AA Range: 10 - 12%
    Beta: 3.2 - 3.9%
    Cohumulone: 24 - 26%
Characteristics: Mango, stone fruit, berry medley, melon. Mild herbal character reported in some instances. Click through for notes on my Mosaic single hop IPA.
Substitutes: Possibly a blend of Galaxy and Nelson Sauvin"

Lupulin River is supposed to be the same recipe as Deep River which was a collaboration between Knee Deep and Kern River, but I don't think they did a good job of replicating it. Did you get to try Deep River on tap? It was absolutely unbelievable.

To answer the question at hand, certain batches of Enjoy By have had a really great dank quality.
