Third Shift Band of Brewers Amber Lager tastes like an adjunct macro beer. Nowhere on the packaging does it say Miller-Coors. It wasn't until after I bought it did I investigate and found out that's who brews it so it's my on fault. I should have known any beer which has the budget to advertise on tv during the ncaa tournement was a macro brew. But hidding all traces of who you really are stinks IMO.

Craft beers that taste like adjunct macros would be a good thread. I would nominate Full Sail Amber and Longboard Island lager.

Anytime you see a commercial for a brand on tv it's a pretty safe bet its a millercoors or abi brand. Advertising is super expensive.

Well that's a good question. It's definately an adjucnt, which is not what a wanted but it tastes like a Coors with a stronger malt flavor. Not much hops at all. If I was at a party and all they had wad Bud Light, Coors and 3rd shift, I'd drink it - or leave depending ...what get's me is that they hid who they are on the packaging.

I think its good beer personally ... For 9.99 a 12pk at Rite Aid I'm all over it.

You really expected honesty from coors or Inbev I think Bud while I never liked it was at least honest until Inbev became involved.

We got fooled by this one too. Before we realized it was a Coors product, I didn't really care for it, but I didn't hate it. My boyfriend thought it was okay. I just thought it was kind of a bland caramely malt. Once we found out it was a Miller-Coors product, we both decided we wouldn't buy it again. Not so much because the beer itself was terrible, but because we would rather have our money go to craft brewers. And there are equal or better products being produced by craft brewers.

I'm not terribly opposed to BMC products in the right situation. But if I want a Coors, I want a classic fizzy yellow refreshing Coors Light...not some kinda malty but still flavorless craft beer wannabe.

I have not had a Third Shift Amber (which is brewed at a Miller brewery in Texas) yet but it sounds like an American Amber Adjunct Lager (AAAL) to me. I rarely have a hankering for an AAAL beer but when I do I reach for a Yuengling Lager. Another AAAL that I will drink from time to time is Shiner Bock.

WilliamLee stated: “what get's me is that they hid who they are on the packaging”. Just part of MillerCoors marketing strategy to obfuscate they are brewing this beer.

    Cheers!

Anheuser Busch used "dba" names for a number of it's faux craft and other beers long before InBev purchased the company - the most notable still around today are "Blue Dawg Brewing" "Shock Top Brewing Co.", Land Shark's "Margaritaville Brewing Co., Jacksonville, FL" and, of course, "Latrobe Brewing CO., St. Louis, MO". IIRC, the film Beer Wars featured a segment looking for an AB dba "brewery" in Fairfield, CA (for their organic beer, I think).

Current labels also list MillerCoors' Trenton, OH brewery as well as the one in Ft. Worth, TX, and previous labels noted Golden, CO.

3 cities (of about 3 dozen) on a beer label that should set off alarm bells to any beer drinker finding a "new" beer from a previously unknown brewery.

You BMC haters amuse me. For someone to say that they would leave a party if they didn't have any non-BMC is a ridiculous statement

Just curious why everyone thinks it's brewed with adjuncts? I haven't done any research on this beer but am curious.

I'd never buy either but it was a lot better than Bud Black crown. Reminded me of Coors Batch 19 but I could be off on that one since it's been a long time since I've had it.

"Third Shift Amber Lager has a pleasant, malty flavor that combines some toasted notes, pale malt, caramel, grains, and a dash of nutty character, with a clean hop bitterness that is mild and agreeable. The beer is light to medium in body and its overall flavor leans toward the sweet side. It is a very agreeable beer with a taste that will appeal to traditional beer drinkers as well as those who consume craft beer exclusively."

I am 99.99% sure that "grains" does not equal "malt".

    Cheers!

I did not get "tricked" by this beer, one of my local watering holes had it on draft and I said why not? I'm not a BMC hater, I haven't forgotten how much miller lite I drank in college. Third shift wasn't the worst beer i've ever had, but I won't be ordering it again.

Ya know, I'm a sucker for trying new lagers and even 'Crafty' ones that I see in the cold box on a Friday after work, but (and I'm getting up there in age, ya whippersnapper) even with my crummy corrected lens vision I could read the "COORS MASTER BREWERS" on the label:

Since I've been usin' this site for over ten years, I reckon that most of the new users who've joined circa 2010 or-so are still "newly-legal" drinkers and are probably not so savvy to all of the packaging tricks and label tomfoolery that the big brewers use, but trust me OP, you will wise up soon enough!

Now, back to drinkin' my geezer beer...
