I'll bring em.
For the bottles or for the people
For the people. Although we do need them for the beer too. Do you have that covered Justin?
there will be plenty of growler tags for the beer. No worries on that.
NJ is a big place.... With lots of awesome beer. Especially Hoboken.
Hence, "just about" anywhere in NJ.
So wait, you're saying I should hit Hoboken before heading home that night......twist my arm.
If Grumpy is letting us into that cellar of his I don't think any of us will need much arm twisting. ;-)
no more getting lost in NJ for me.
I sadly wont be able to make it. Hitting the fresh powder for the first time in 8 years.
That totally sounds like more fun!
Cant make it my niece is having a birthday party
Psyched for this. Should I chill my bottles before, or bring the cellar temperature?
The bottles will be held in a fridge at Top Hops but it prob won't hurt to bring em chilled just in case you'd like to open your stuff up early on.
Question- It appears a few of us will be bringing the same beers. This is great, I wonder if it would be possible to do all the same beers at same time, so we could make sure everyone who wants gets a taste of those of which there is plenty. Or folks who have different vintages somehow get together. Are these good ideas?
It was handled marvelously last time with bringers deciding when to pull, maybe we all could decide to do a few other things too. Any suggestions? I know the first one, some of you agreed on certain things ahead of time.
This is a good idea, cavedave. Do you usually taste the same style of beer at the same time? For example, have previous tastings started with sours then stouts then barleywines, etc?
It sort of becomes a free for all. With 40 ppl there it can get a lil hectic, especially for the few guys that will be helping out by storing and retrieving our beers.
Dave's idea is a good one and I think the guys behind the counter can try to handle it if they're able to.
Makes sense. Thanks for the heads up.
Dave... You're going to regret this. Trust me.
cavedave's idea is great -- if people want to coordinate verticals/horizontals, that's super cool. i know at one of them, the regular, oak aged, and bourbon aged faystons were all opened together, for instance.
I've been on edge waiting for my work schedule to be finalized for this week, but I'm all squared away for Saturday. Can't wait to open some brews with you guys.
hmmm....i was about to come here and say that i might not be able to make it (trade-offs with the wife so i can go to other tastings), but if grumpy is saying i will not want to miss this...i might not want to miss this. although to my wife's point, mike always says that...but then again, mike doesn't lie.
i'm on the maybe list for saturday...might be too much for me to get killed on saturday and need a few days to recover.
Just went up to Peekskill Brewery yesterday. Would anyone be interested in me bringing a growler of Shotgun Willie instead of a Bligh's?
I will convince mike to change his tune and say I MIGHT not WILL regret this.
hope so since it looks like i have to bow out for this one
removing my name from the list. new spot is open
Sadly I will also have to back out of this one. Very sick relative needs my attention. Same reason I have missed BOTH Tired Hands bottle releases. It's just beer I guess.
Anyway I will take my name and my wife's off the list and offer my apologies in that I won't be able to attend and bring the Saizon Bretta, Bourbon GBS, BA Church, etc. that I was hoping to.
Also I can attest that this is a freaking awesome event; I got to try at least 25 terrific beers last time including some pretty whalish bottles and big time wants. Also met a lot of terrific people. Enjoy everyone. Hope I make the next round.
Hi Tobelerone -
Sorry to hear about the illness of your relative. My wife and I were in Philadelphia last weekend and were able to make it to Tired Hands. If anyone is interested in tasting Prunus, we were contemplating bringing a bottle to Saturday's sharing but we do have an extra bottle or two of Nebula. If you would like to try, let me know.
I'd love to try some TH. Was going to hit them up last week but plans fell through.
The anticipation of this is just making the work week feel that much slower. Saturday morning needs to come like tomorrow. Looking forward to the craziness!
Just added myself to the list. Will see everyone Saturday
Just got alerted to this by teddy and justin. Where is the alternate sign up sheet? Or should I just add myself to the overflow the gdoc?
Yes yes yes yes yes.
Also please do not add yourself to the list as there is an active wait list.
My work trip got pushed back and now I can make this - wish I had signed up for this sooner. For now, just an alternate.
Done. Since interest exists, we will bring Prunus and Nebula.
I'll bring both. So my final line-up is:
BCBS Cherry Rye
Silva Stout x1
bligh's bligh's bligh's bligh's bligh's bligh's bligh's bligh's bligh's. (i think. i've never had it. people say i'd like it though, which is a tall order for a b-wine.)
Does anyone still have Bligh's '11 for a small Bligh's vertical?
Just ok'd this with the wife. Looking forward to it. Sorry Dave!
So are people actually only bringing 2-3 bottles? the list makes it look like much more, don't want to be a clown who shows with way too much or way too little.
