frustrated as i just had to drain pour two zombie dusts in a row. bleah nose, tasted of dirty dishwater, darker color. they were purchased 11-29-13. i have been drinking ZD since it was cenotaph and the fact that i had two in a row that were off just pissed me off. i wouldn't go public except for the fact that when i have had the random off bottle from FFF in the past they haven't responded to me when i emailed them (not asking for anything, just an FYI type-deal). my frustration may be exacerbated because i've been spending 4 figures a year there for six years and know i won't even get an email response.
i'm wondering if anyone else has gotten off/infected bottles? have they responded to you if you inquired about it? what could be the source of this problem? the bottling line? thanks for any input.

I'd drain pour 1 month old ZD too

I haven't had an off bottle. I've had some beers that were just bad, but not infected.

They aren't going to respond to you. They don't care.

It could be a plethora of reasons.

At one month, ZD has probably peaked anyways ;-)

While they do make some incredible beer, Three floyds has to have the worst customer service I've ever seen. Think their motto is "Buy us, F@#k you"

It's simple...even if you like their beer, If you don't like them, quit buying their stuff.

I can agree with the OP, I have opened some fresh, day old bottles, and they have tasted off. I have also had many bottles where the caps were not sealed fully which led to a nice mess in my fridge. Mentioned it to a bartender there and he basically said well that sucks.... end of conversation. Still love their beers and will continue to support them, but something is going on.

Here we go again with the FFF bashing. If you're all so disappointed with their QC and/or customer service (or lack thereof), STOP BUYING FROM THEM!!

Don't be so quick to blame the brewery. Lots of things can happen between their dock and you opening a bottle. They are only one variable and I can all but guarantee they have the best quality control measures out of all the moving pieces. If your bottle didn't have a bottle date on it, then it wasn't the freshest available at the time of your purchase. FFF started bottle dating sometime in November on ZD six packs. It doesn't sound like freshness was the primary issue with your bottles but more time allows for more opportunity for things to go wrong.

As far as not getting a response, it's fairly common knowledge that responding to customers calls/emails/tweets/etc isn't part of their daily business model yet. Maybe it will be one day. No one thought they'd bottle date but now we have bottles with dates. Don't give up on them yet.

    simple solution.

    pay with credit card.
If they fail to respond, charge back purchase with credit card company and let FFF deal with your CC company.

    FWIW I recently had 2 x 6-packs of 11/27/13 and 1 x 6-pack of 12/4/13 and all were tasty.

This may have been a joke, hard to tell, but CC companies won't dispute a purchase because you didn't like it.

I'm going to start off by saying I read only the title, because thats all i needed to read. If you don't buy it they have 9000 other people that will. Most people will say they don't care about you buts thats a lie. I had a few bad experiences a few years ago but once they start seeing you they will do everything they will to fix whatever issue you have.

All this "they don't care" stuff is BS. Give the business end a call. Leave a message. They'll get back to you. Bringing it up to a bartender and expecting a serious response is ridiculous. As if he has a clue what happened on the bottling line. Get with the program, people.

I've been supporting FFF for a long time. With the exception of Bubble Guppie I've always had good beer from them and have always had a good time/service at the pub.

My comment to the bar tender wasn't so that I would get something out of it. It was more of less one of those times where you were wondering if they have heard of a similar situation occurring, perhaps to even some of their own bottles that they bring home.

They've recently updated their bottling lines. Stuff like this is to be expected. I've gotten a few bottles that were flat; a few that tasted off (not infected) and many that had screwed up labels or were pretty much glued to the packaging. Give it time, it'll work itself out. That being said, continue to message them or call them with the issues. if they don't know, they can't fix it—production-wise and compensation-wise. But yeah, telling a bartender probably won't get you very far. Have you ever had a bartender there give a shit about anything you said? I haven't.

I had a sixer of Zombie Dust a couple of weeks ago that was definitely not right. I think it may have been Alpha King. I notice a lot of variation with ZD though, but I am 99% sure they sold me AK in ZD bottles.

And just for the record, I love all things FFF, but I think they may need to tighten things up a bit over there.

They will absolutely dispute a purchase if what you bought wasn't 'right'.

Have you tried to dispute an alcohol purchase saying it didnt taste right, and unable to return the contents? Do you work for a bank? I do. I know the dispute process, I deal with it all the time. In situations like this, you got your product, and it is the correct product, so at that point it needs to be handled with the brewery or store. You can dispute anything, but the CC company goes back to the brewery or store, and if you don't have a leg to stand on, like in this case, the charge will stand.

Quality Control? Don't ya know? They're too metal to be bothered with QC. Or caring what their customers think. Of course, that won't stop people from buying their crap.

It's a good thing they brew nothing that I can't find a better replacement beer from a more respectable brewery. As a metal head it's hard for me NOT to support them, but they have finally pushed me away, for many reasons, but mostly due to their attitude.

I scored two six packs of zombie dust last night from a friend who's sister got two cases four days ago.. I've been checking the carryout list everyday for weeks and haven't seen zombie dust.. did miss it? Or do they sometimes have zd and not put it on the carryout list?

It's almost like they saved up $12K (or more) and bought a laser etcher so they could date. I don't think many people understand the cost of placing some numbers on a bottle.

LOVE the people who stop by once or twice year. They are clearly qualified to assess when the bartenders or staff give or don't give a shit. Maybe the employees get tired of the drunken boobs throwing down with them because they have read reviews of how bad service is. If you approach them as the decent people they are, you'll get better results than trying to match an imagined attitude.

    Just to clarify....

The staff is known to have a crappy attitude and so people go in there assuming they will be treated with a crappy attitiude, as a result the staff treats the customers like crap and give bad service.

    Makes sense.

As far as bartenders go, the ones that work at Three Floyds really aren't bad guys. I usually stop by when I'm passing through on I-80/I-94, which recently has been anywhere from 2-3 times a month to once every few months. Lately I've been seeing Jason around and he's a guy who always offers me a handshake when I get in and leave at the bar and is always checking to make sure I have something in my glass. So as far as I'm concerned, the bartenders are solid and upstanding citizens. Don't know if I can say the same about the guy at the carry-out kiosk, but that's neither here nor there.

HOWEVA, that has zilch to do with the bottling line. Why the !@#$ should the bartenders know what's going on with the bottling line?

I've spent a lot of time at FFF. Most of the employees are extremely friendly. There are a couple of bartenders that always seem to act shitty towards customers. The people working the door and kiosk seem to be in bad moods more often than the bartenders, but they have to deal with more bullshit than the bartenders and probably don't make much in tips (or have control over how much the tips are for).

I would rate their customer service below average, but it doesn't seem like the entire staff is out to get me like a lot of people on BA seem to think. It's never been bad enough to detour me from visiting the brewpub or buying their beer.

All of the times I've been there I've never seen or heard any staff member be rude.

I wonder about the people who make these claims were they rude so a staff member throws it right back at em? That wouldn't make it right but....

Assuming you poured it into a glass, it should be pretty easy to tell if you got the wrong beer.
