Whenever the Vermont Beer Trail/the holy trinity of beer [Hill Farmstead, Alchemist, Lawson's] isn't mentioned in a best beercation list, the list is bogus even if it does include San Diego.

This. And...straight up fail with not more than one Midwest entry on there. Illinois, Michigan, Ohio could all be on there.

I have to agree with TheFlern: Bend, OR should have been number one. Yes, I am biased since I live here, but if you want a great breweries, outdoor activities and a city that has beer woven into the fabric of its culture then Bend is the place to go. 15 breweries in Bend alone and 22 in greater Central Oregon. Beer and Bend are synonyms. Everywhere you go in town you are reminded how much of a role the craft brew industry plays in this town of ~85K.

My perfect beercation would be to replicate my road trip I made during fall foliage to New England 12 years ago. It was the best road trip, thus far. Only this time around I will stop by various breweries in the area. I didn't drink beers at the time.

No Vermont?! Hahaha! Does the author realize that Vermont is part of the USA?

I've now had two beercations in Cascadia. The only reason why I hesitate to call this place the perfect beercation destination is because I want, with every thread of my being, to live there, in which case I'd be forced to go elsewhere for va/beercations. Gotta find a job ASAP.

This is what I did for my 21st and it was a blast. (Even a hitch from Camels hump to Burlington was easy)

You mean no one wants to spend 3 months driving through Montana visiting the 40ish breweries here?
    That's ridiculous!

I love going to VT for beer after the leaf peepers invade....usually mid-November

I love VT, great beers are everywhere, well almost everywhere as long as your within 30 miles of Waterbury.
I love Asheville too, but I think it would get more love if the beers were just better than they are. Wicked Weed tilts the equation a bit, if NoDa, Olde Mecklenburg, and Olde Hickory were on tap the ratings would go up. But first and foremost the Asheville area is a beautiful, with lots of cool bars, some interesting food, and lots to do. We're going in 2 weeks and spending a long weekend. Never been to Biltmore at Xmas, and the Hot Springs Spa is a must, and only 20-30 minutes away. Ideally if you could put the VT beers in Asheville I'd be living in Asheville, and it would be more popular than SD.

Its not a terrible list. I did do GABF/Denver/FtCollins a few years back, throw in a little hiking and touring of Rocky Mtn Nat'l Park and it remains one of the best vacations I've ever been on.

Oh no! No Vermont??? What a sin. Maybe the fact that its still relatively pretty small and obscure has something to with that. Yeah, the beer is phenomenal but it's still more of fairy tale for the masses who haven't tasted the stuff. Also, it's pretty desolated. Don't get me wrong, this would be in my top five beer destinations but then again I consider myself to be pretty hard core. Would be just for the beer and nature kick.
