Just grabbed myself a ticket for the 6th anniv party at Union Transfer...

"We will be pouring a full tap list of our beers AS WELL AS beers brewed by our great friends from all over. Of course, there will be other surprises as well...." -from the TH insta feed...

Can only guess what breweries will be shipping kegs in for this...

What was the birthday party like at Union Transfer last year (I believe they had it there last year)? I'm debating going this year but not crazy about huge crowds, waiting on lines, etc. Not interested in the music lineup either. I would only be going for the beer. Thinking I should probably skip it.

Went last year as well and not going this year. Line up for beer was decent, a little disappointed by the guest taps and everything was spread out over 4 different bar areas.

Last year was great although we had to throw a friend of ours in his wife's car for the two block ride home to his place....pounding 7%+ abv beers at a show like that will do that to you. I ended up in the Baroness pit which was good times but the best part was honestly just going with my two friends to any of the bars, each of us ordering three of one drink and then setting up shop at one of the little tables. Prevented us from having to go back too often.

But like @NickCaff mentioned the lineup was ok and there were lines for everything. I particularly liked JeanHands and Tongue Extinguisher.

Also and I realize this has nothing to do with beer and is very subjective but I loved last year's lineup a lot more than this year's. Not dissing this year's bands but just saying.

what were the beer prices like at last year's anniversary show? Last time I was at Union Transfer, I believe cups of Hop Hands were around $10.

Oh right that was the other thing too, spent a lot of money that night. Don't remember exactly but I think everything was at least $8.

Was really hoping they were going to have this pizza beer on tap today so I could try before I buy. Looks like I'll just be stocking up on the Daily Personal Best. Half case allotment is music to my ears.

The show was a blast last year! I'm excited to go again to this year's show. Not bad seeing three bands for $20 and having a great tap list available on top of it!

I hear they're shipping in fresh kegs of pizza beer all the way from Naples!

Didn't they have Pallbearer last year? And what was the other one? Baroness or High On Fire? God, I love me some heavy metal. It's so cool that Jean likes metal.

It was Pallbearer, Nothing, & Baroness. I went for Pallbearer, & became a Baroness fan after seeing them live. If I recall correctly Half Acre, Monkish, & Holy Mountain sent kegs. As others have said, beers were on the expensive side, though not ridiculously priced for a concert venue.

Damn! I wish I could go. Although I plan on visiting Tired Hands on June 5th, the day after the Slayer show in Reading. I won't be able to drink much on premises since I'll be driving, but I'm going to try a couple with food, and then hopefully score some cans or crowlers to go.

EDIT: Also, yes. Baroness are excellent live.

Cracked a can of the pizza ipa last night. Immediately regretted not just splitting a 4 pack with my friend rather than buying a full 4 pack for myself. Ugh.

I am obtaining some through the "T" word as I am curious but didn't want to go spend the money. Sorry TH.

My buddy said the same exact thing last night when I dropped off his 4pack and we split a can of it.

I had a friend grab me a 4-pk of each beer yesterday, but I have not cracked any of them yet. He opened one of his Place to Be and said if anything it was "doughy" but could not get any of the lemon basil or tomato paste. Didn't love it, but didn't hate it.

Were you guys able to detect any of the aforementioned ingredients from Tired Hands? I will be opening mine this weekend and will provide my thoughts.

Some of these one off can releases would prob just sit on tap at the Cafe for a bit. Good for them being able to sell off 300 cases in a day or 2 without anyone knowing or trying the beer.

I agree on the "doughy" aspect.. I didn't get lemon basil or tomato anything either, nor did I get merlot. It wasn't a horrible beer, but it wasn't anything special. We immediately followed it up with the triple, so memory of the night is a bit hazy this morning.
