Nice list, certainly some great beers there

surprised to see joker make the top 20 though, I like it but I don't think it's great

If Williams Brother's Joker is a better ipa than Marble's Lagonda
then Pol Pot was kinder person than Mother Teresa

It should be just 20 kernel ipa variations. But yeah, if joker got on there then urban ipa should definitely get into the top 10 I reckon.

Having said that I only drink Lagonda on cask at Marble's brewery tap ultra fresh
and the Joker I have had was bottled and bought from Booths in Salford
So it probably sat on the shelf for a while

Good list. I think Arbor's Yakima Valley, and Fyne's Superior IPA should be on there, but it's all good.

Also, Williams' Joker IPA is FAR superior on cask to its bottle form.

    I thought as much.

I've only had the Meantime but I've had Jaipur from Thornbridge. Is the Halcyon really that much better?

I should point out that it's a green-hop IPA, so if that's not your thing then don't give it too much thought.

Also, Buxton's Axe Edge blows both of them out of the water.

Yeah, no problem there but there's no hopes of me finding the Buxton in the US, is there?:(

Not yet, but with the exponentially-growing popularity of both Buxton and Kernel I don't imagine it will be too long. I mean, both Thornbridge and Marble have been available in California, so it's only a matter of time.

Both breweries are now on my watch out LIST!

Good list; nice to hear a run-down of the current state of affairs over here. Must be a half-dozen breweries on there I haven't even heard of :)

    Time to get hunting.....

Agreed, I've only had three on those list. I'm glad Green Devil made the list and a bit disappointed Oakham Citra did not. Concurring with Jazzy, this weekend I'll be spending some time hunting.

Also, surprised Punk IPA isn't on there, but understandable with how inconsistent it is.

Oh, this is the first I've heard of Green Devil. How does it compare to Citra?

  22. ImperialStoat

    ImperialStoat May 20, 2009 Ireland

    The same, but bigger.

A trip to the north is always a possibility! Good ales, catch some football explore Madchester! :)
Then off to Sheffield which seems to tick a lot of boxes for a beery destination...don't know how I missed those two!

Would a bottle of tea & honey ale interest you
I grabbed it because it was a Tatton brewery beer I haven't had without realising it's content
    as I don't like honey
    or tea

Oh dear! Disliking 2 of the ingredients... Not a good start!!

I will hold onto it if 1) you might make it round these parts and 2) you would want it.

How can you dislike either?! Especially tea.... :(
