Tried to narrow it down to just a few....

    90 Minute IPA
    Hoptimum
    Stoopid
    Ruination IPA
    Centennial IPA
    Hopslam

Seems like a list of stuff you'd expect... But, hey, the reason these IPA's are always highly touted is because they are good, right? To me, these IPA's all stand out for one reason or another from other IPA's, while remaining enjoyable and easy to drink.

Top IPA's: Heady Topper, Stone IPA, Bell's Two-Hearted

I agree with someone's earlier reply about great IPA's being tasted another time can be somewhat of a disappointment when tried again... not sure why. These are very consistent IMO. I'd love to try many that I can't seem to find but are rated very highly. Being in DC area, a newer brewery DC Brau also has Corruption IPA which I tried yesterday and upon first tasting is very respectable.

    Personal favorites :

    IPA

    Flower Power
    Union Jack
    Sculpin
    Alesmith IPA
    Lunch
    Meadowlark (new favorite)

    DIPA

Basically all of Hill Farmsteads DIPA's. They're all outstanding.
    Heady Topper
    Ruination
Lawsons Double Sunshine (probably my favorite hoppy beer ever).
    Pliny (classic).

Basically, I've come to the conclusion that Vermont is making the best IPA's/DIPA's for my palette.

One of my new personal favorites as of last night: Williamsburg AleWerks' Caledonia.
The reviews that it has don't do it justice, but in all honesty there are very few beers out there like this one to develop a palate for. If you can pry yourself away from the extreme DIPA world and want to try a great example of what a real historical IPA probably was, get this one.

My highest rated IPA is Dogfish Head 75-Minute from cask at the brewpub (4.58), but I'm most likely to be picking up cases (based on taste, value, and availability) of 21st Amendment Brew Free or Die, Bell's Two Hearted, DFH 60 Minute, Cigar City Jai Lai, or Troegs Perpetual...

My highest rated DIPA is Stone Ruination 10th Anniversary (4.55), but I'm most likely to be picking up cases (based on taste, value, and availability) of DFH 90 Minute, Duclaw Serum, Heady Topper, Lagunita's Hop Stoopid, or Weyerbacher Double Simcoe...

I have a few other IPAs reviewed, but those are my favorite 3 so far. Centennial IPA by Founders would be forth.

So is What Is Enlightenment. They're hoppier (and far tastier) than many IPAs though. I know I bent the rules a bit lol.
