I hate when people do this in the Midwest forum and get yelled at and redirected to previous posts but here goes nothing. I'm flying into Montreal for a few days, I staying downtown at the delta hotel and I need some recommendations on bars, breweries and a good beer shop. Thanks for any input just want to make sure I don't miss any have-to type beers or spots. Thanks guys.

I'm going to piggy-back on your thread if you don't mind. I'll be in both Montreal and Quebec City in July and would be interested in the same info as burica. Cheers everyone!

Not a Montreal expert by any means, but check out the Dieu du Ciel bar while you're there. Great place, nice patio, excellent beer.

DDC will be at the top everyone's list.

Cheval Blanche is a really cool space, the is a bunch of places right near there that are cool L'amere Boire is like 4 blocks away(?) and brews great lagers.

Jeff Quebec City is tougher I have never been impressed with the beer scene in that city. If you are driving go to Le Trou du Diable and Hopenstrak, both enroute between Quebec City and Montreal.

Bedondaine is a great place but is not in the Quebec city area. Maybe you mixed up your link.

Befondaine is great also is the tied Unibroue restaurant in Chambly just a couple blocks away, sure if you contacted Unibroue you might be able to get some special treatment. Jeffo, Luc Bouvin one of the founders of DDC opened a brewpub this spring near Quebec City I have heard nothing but great things about http://mdbp.ca/

Did 5 micro in Quebec city last week: best stuff was pretty much at korrigane IMO. For montreal, brouehaha, cheval blanc, benelux, vice versa, la succursale and l'amère à boire are all pretty good

for bottles, the best place by far is "depanneur peluso" on Rachel street, at Iberville corner. Go to the back of of the store, amazing choice...

Depanneur Peluso should be DEFINITELY on your list (as what some other BAs mentioned). Vices et Versa is a great alternative to DDC (gets really packed some nights and seating may me an issue). Also try n hit DDC's brewery in St. Jerome. Sometimes has some really great stuff. Enjoy!

I can't give much on beer destinations in Montreal, I missed a real good bottle shop in Quebec City when I was there last. Family went to Korrigane in QC and enjoyed themselves, La Brasserie beers are... alright...

I really enjoy both cities, if you are interested in dining somewhere in Montreal I can recommend, Au Pied Cochon (you will need a reservation... now if not maybe earlier), Jardin de Panos, there were also some decent eats on Rue St. Denis...

Also if you are in Montreal... go to Schwarz's Deli, and get Montreal bagels....

Oh I'd also hit this place without question... looks like it's metro/subway close too...

    Brasserie Dieu Du Ciel

The beer selection is nothing special but the St. Elisabeth patio is worth a visit, like 60 foot ivy covered walls.

Jeff if you are in Quebec August 11th, Le Trou du Diable hosts probably one of Quebec's best beer festivals and the nice thing is that is small. My wife and I will be out for that one.

Thanks for the heads up, but we'll miss that one unfortunately. We'll be out of Quebec well before August rolls around.

    Have a good time!

It is only good if you drink it warm from the quart bottles.

Back from Quebec and we had a great time. Not a beercation by any stretch of the imagination, but we did find some good spots.

In Montreal we hit Vices et Versa for dinner and a few beers one night. Great tap selection. Had a LouLou Porter before they ran out, a Dunham Black IPA, which was great, and a couple other hoppy ales while there. Hit Depanneur Peluso before we left as well. Awesome selection of just Quebec craft. (Un)fortunately I didn't have all that much cash on me...

Found a really good selection at a grocery store in Quebec City that actually allowed me to pick up what I was forced to leave behind in Montreal. Intermarche St-Roch at 272 St. Joseph Est is a good stop for bottles if you're in the area. Also had a few decent pints at Korrigane as well, which was just a 9-iron from the Intermarche, and my hotel for that matter.

Anyways, thanks for the tips guys!

    Cheers,
    Jeff
