Finally! It's about damn time!
The most recent x-hops pink was incredible. One of my all time favorite TG beers. I've got high hopes for this one!
FML...just when I was doing so well with not buying any beer. I knew Beer Hates Astronauts was coming, but this is something unexpected. It'll probably be so crazy to get this anyway that I'll miss out.
^This! Recently completed a trade that included 2 bottles of X-hops Pink. Was my first time trying an X-hops, but holy shit was Pink a good beer. Opening the other with some friends this weekend. I'm very excited to hopefully start getting bombers in IL regularly, or whatever their version of regularly is.
I'm out of town next week, which should be fine since I'd imagine we'll see it around the end of June
Honestly, at this point there are so many good options coming out week after week (well...if you like NE IPAs, at least ) that I've decided to switch my philosophy from "MUST HUNT BEER 'X'" to "well...whatever I run into, I'll buy." I'm super excited to start getting TG bombers in the city, but we're also so stocked on good options atm that I can wait if I have to.
(although, check back with me if DDH Sue comes into town)
The X-hops series has always really impressed me, haven't had it in a while though, excited to give it a try.
Very true, and that has made cutting back much easier. I figure if I miss this round of something from Corridor, Forbidden Root, etc., either the same thing will pop up again or something different (and perhaps better) will be around when my budget is ready.
I got PS at the Marion's on Chicago/Damen dated 5/15. I have yet to try the Iowa stuff, but for $9.99/6 pack this is worth picking up.
6-pack of pseudo sue?
Ahhhhh 4 pack
Any Teal sightings or info yet?
Iron and Glass in Romeoville posted they have it today. Limit 1
They are out now
Bitter Pops got it in yesterday. No idea if they'll still have it today though, since I didn't swing by.
XHops Teal is just "fine". If you're expecting a Pink/Gold/Silver, you'll be sorely disappointed. Probably worth picking up one to try though.
Picked one up yesterday and drank last night.
It was fine. Big grapefruit flavor to me but also with grapefruit levels of bitterness to my tongue
Yeah, just so-so on the teal. Glad to have tried it, but no need to seek more.
Lots of the teal at the Arlington Heights Binnys, no limit, 9.99
Teal was bland. Unlike most here, I'm not glad I got to try it at all...
Is this real life???
I sure hope so.
Teal dropped at downstate Binny's yesterday. Drank one with some friends tonight. All agreed nice aromatics, looked good and hazy, but most importantly a very bland finish. Agreed, very meh. Xhops Pink was infinitely better than this. Not to mention DDH Sue or King. Our palates nor the internet could figure out what the hops were on this. Any ideas?
I was told at the taproom it is Denali, Lemon Drop, and there was a third that I cannot remember, but I think maybe simcoe.
Ha! One of the guys in my group that homebrews guessed Lemon Drop. Thanks for the info!
What do we think happened here? Sold out in 4 hours Friday night. Nobody else has posted having it. Just seems weird that one account got these and it was in Geneva and not like The Beer Temple...
More than likely they bought some in Wisconsin/Iowa and brought it back to sell there. I don't think King Sue has dropped anywhere for over a month.
I disagree. Both TG and BuckleDown are with Breakthru Beverage so the posted photo makes sense. My thinking is the store has a very good relationship with the distributor. Curious on the King Sue bottle dates too.
Plenty of Teal available at Costco on Damen, in the city.
The last known batch of King Sue should a be very late April (4/26 mostly) bottling date..
I've never had the amount or the pati nice to take a KS beyond 2 weeks. I'd think that beer should still be really good 2 months out if it was cold stored but I'm not positive.
As someone who still has a few bottles from mid-May in the fridge, they are.
6 week old IPA?! GROSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If anyone is interested I just saw some PS at Highland Park Binny's and it was canned 7-14, Has to be the freshest I have seen distributed of late and would have grabbed some but I already have to many hops in the fridge.
Per TG, no King Sue coming to our fair land. <sadtrombone.wav>
To be honest, as someone who was initially excited about TG hitting the city, I'm passing on them until A) they start giving us their top tier bombers (at least Sue and/or variants) or B) they start canning PS in Decorah. My experiences with the canned PS they started shipping us have been pretty bad, and given the recent explosion of awesome hoppy stuff in the city, there's just no reason for me to keep trying FL batches of PS hoping for improvement. Glad it's here, but at the moment I'll probably only seek it out at the Field Museum (on tap).
And then there is Xhops Teal as their first bomber offering to us ...
It was a great pale ale....better than most of the comparable stuff in Chicago.
It paled in comparison to pink.
