Hey there southern BA's. My wife and I are taking a trip to Miami in June and I was looking for recommendations for local beers/brewpubs/breweries etc to try out. Advice on a good Cuban style eatery would also be welcomed.

    Thanks in advance.

Definitely hit up Funky Budha Lounge up in Boca, they make some very unique and phenomonal beers. If you're staying on Miami Beach or anywhere in Miami proper it will be a bit of a haul to get up there but worth it!

I would definitely check out the Funky Buddha in Boca right off of Federal. I was there this past Friday and it was great. If they still have Doc Brown's on tap It is totally worth a shot to try.

Thanks folks. I've def hit these up while I'm down there. I've heard great things about the Funky Buddha so I guess I'll have to make the pilgrimage.

Just beware the long drive and the high octane FB beers.

    The HopGods have spoken.

Ugh, La Carreta? Just hit up Little Havana (8th St between 17th and 27th) and find a place that smells good. If you want to go somewhere with a cool history and possibly some craziness go to Versailles, but be prepared for potentially bad service. Some of the servers don't like gringos.

From Little Havana head down 8th to Ponce and go down to Titanic, be sure to check out the little convenience store next to Titanic as well. Don't let the store front deter you, they can have gems in there. After Titanic you can drive (or take the metro) down US1 to South Miami and check out Cervezas. If you want to check out the Miami "countryside" there is a small winery and brewery out in The Redlands. I haven't been out there yet but I'm interested in going (http://schneblywinery.com/). Near by is the Fruit and Spice Park, you pay $10 to get in and are allowed to take ripe fruits to eat. It's 30 acres tropical fruits.

On the beach there is the Abbey, Abraxas, and Beer and Burger Joint (there is also a BnB in Brickell, downtown.)

I'd recommend going to Havana 1957 on South Beach for Cuban cuisine. It's on the corner of Washington Ave and Espanola Way...the food is very good, and an awesome area of the Beach. Plus, you'll be relatively close to the best beer spots in Miami - Abraxas, The Abbey, Zeke's. Additionally, there is a new restaurant next door to The Abbey called Yardbird that is absolutely phenomenal. The draw there is the amazing food, but they have 12 taps as well.

only went to The Abbey and Zeke's in South Beach, pretty damn disappointed in both. Zeke's is definitely a "drink cheap beer and watch people walk by" place and not much else. everything is $4, but don't expect anything crazy. they also don't let you eat or drink anything from any other place at their outside tables. there were 3 guys behind the bar who had nothing to do so just hovered around the whole time waiting for my drink order. i wouldn't anticipate much knowledge from them.

Abbey didn't have their IPA on which i guess is their flagship beer? so i had some Chimay. dark place. clueless staff.

    ahhh Miami.

also, Titanic had mostly mediocre beers but i loved that English IPA. very good, incredibly sessionable. the bartender was pretty awesome and we talked trash about some UM dropout who was hammered in the corner. that owned

The Room used to be a pretty cool place. I haven't been down in a while, but might be worth checking out.

Lokal Burgers and Beer in Coconut Grove is a new spot and really cool. Its a real chill spot with good music playing in the background and really good grass fed burgers. The beer there is secondary but they put alot of emphasis on quality. They have about 8 or 10 taps and 30 bottles. Good place to get local brews. Had a World wide Stout on draft and a local beer from Tequesta called Gnarly Barley.

Abbey's house quad is pretty good. Abraxas is by far the best place on the Beach - make sure to go there if you're in Miami again.
