Alright, I'm sure this sort of scenario has been posted a thousand times. But that means you're all good at recommendations:slight_smile:

Anyways, traveling to Seattle sometime in January (haven't picked a weekend yet). I want some friendly advice on some great beers/breweries in the area. Maybe there's some kind of beer fest going on in January? Or just great places to enjoy northwest's finest. I guess I'm not just looking for great breweries, but are there some great restaurants with good beers? Good stores to pick up some good northwest exclusive beers?

I also had the idea of making a trip down to the Deschutes brew pub in Portland. How's that? Do they have some kind of special release in January. I simply came up with Deschutes as I love their brew (as well as my brother-in-law who's coming along).

So please let me know. Either by BM or adding to the post. Much appreciated!

Honestly-search is your best friend. Lots of great recommendations in this forum. Also, keep an eye on discussions here for upcoming festivals/releases.

Definitely go to the brew pub in Portland, Deschutes is some very good stuff. I went to their brewery in Bend, it was fantastic. As 822 said, Elysian up in Seattle makes some very good beer, their Men's Room Red is a popular choice. Fremont just north of Seattle is a quirky little area and they have some good beer too, this way you can check out most of the neat areas in the city. If you have time in Oregon, or if you're planning a long trip, definitely do Bend, and if you're closer to the coast check out Rogue in Newport. I've never been there but I'm a huge fan of their Dead Guy and Double Dead Guy. Bend was a four-day weekend that I spent most of mildly intoxicated on fancy tasty beverages.

Seriously folks, thanks for all of the input. I knew this was an overridden subject. But I'll research the recommendations and links provided. Never been to the northwest and have always wanted to visit so this is quite exciting for me.

Ball game related: Is Elysian Fields a good choice to have a snack and a beer previous to a game??

If I was in Portland, Deschutes would rank pretty low on my list of places to visit. Not that it isn't great .... but its Portland and there are many places that are more worthy of a visit.

Oh, hell yes! It gets crowded and busy (although, with the M's being the M's, game attendance drops off this time of year, so it might not be that bad. It also depends if there a kickball or football game at the other stadium, which is directly across the street), so give yourself some time. Collins Pub is just up the street as well. There's a ton of bars near the stadiums, finding great beer is easy.
