That was before they were getting a few thousand people in there a week.

750ml is an unconventional size for a "growler" to begin with, and offered as a courtesy. standard 2L growler is ~68oz, where green sells for $16. cans also involve economy of scale, especially compared to the labor cost of filling each growler by hand.

Growlers also probably produce way more waste

I can't believe Green cans lasted the day. I thought it was a solid Greer list too. Surprised they have beer left...

Made it back for the first time in 2-3 months today, and I'll say the beer speaks for itself. So happy to see Old Man back, and Le Peloton is quite enjoyable.

The thing I'll say, though I'm not surprised, is that I noticed several people go through the can line at least twice. The quality of some of (a small portion) of the clientele has definitely diminished in recent times. I can understand the allure, but just don't get why some people can't survive on the limits. This is why we can't have nice things.

Old Man is really damn good. Looking forward to doing a side by side with Burgess tomorrow.

Wow, 200bbls for cans next week. I wonder if that could mean a 5th canning run.

What? 750ml is pretty conventional, and, more importantly, it is what is offered by Treehouse. Not like people are bringing them in randomly and asking to have them filled...it costing more than cans does not make sense. As for the comment of more waste, I think cans produce more waste than refillable glass containers, though I can see the point where some beer goes to waste in the filling process. Still, I don't know of any other breweries (though I am sure they are out there) that charge more for fills than for cans, at any size.

Hopefully this will answer some questions about lines should anyone have one, I know I did and was helpfully answered on this forum so I wanted to pass along my first Tree House trip. Got there at 9:15 and was #37 for growler fills, I'm wondering if that was a little higher than normal because of the abnormally high beer availability for the day. Anyway, waited in the cold and luckily we were let in about 10 minutes early. By the time we were about to be let in I took a vague count and roughly 150 people were lined up. Got our cans in about 10-15 minutes of being let in. I was out of TH by 11:30 with growlers and cans. As I was leaving I noticed someone maybe 40-50 spots behind was leaving with cans only. So if you were around #75 ish you would've been in and out with cans in about 40 min. Hope this is useful to someone!

Isn't this normal. Probably 3 60bbl batches of "core" beer in cans and then a small 20bbl batch in cans?

    Normal. Confirmed on Twitter.

I guess so, but they only can ~45 bbls of a 60bbl batch when it is one of their core beers like julius/green.

Edit: just noticed the site was updated, on tap page now says 4 canning runs next week instead of 200bbls for cans. Maybe we will see a big batch of eureka which has higher yields.

I was talking to a friend tonight and I'm calling it now - Good Morning, whenever it's released next and I'm expecting it to be within the next month and a half - will be bottled. I think the Double Shot was a test run. 500ml over 750ml fills would mean more to go around for everyone and because it's pre-bottled the insane crowds would dissipate much faster than waiting for the fills to be poured, which would probably make the neighborhood a bit more thankful.

Any idea what tree house is doing (if anything) for St Patrick's day? I'll be driving up to the brewery on the day of March 17th. It'd be cool if they release Julius and green just to complement the flag colors

TH posts what beers are available the minute they are canned. They have never posted what's up next, especially 2 weeks in advance. A lot can change between now and then. Follow them on Twitter and they'll post what's available before opening on the 17th.

What's the longest people held onto TH cans? Weeks? Months? Have some cans of Green and AE from mid Feb. Curious on thoughts of TH cans...hops falling off, IPA age, etc

I just had a 5 week old TH can last night and it was excellent (Curiosity 24). That's the oldest one I've ever had but I regularly push them for 3-4 weeks. In my opinion, many of them hit their stride around 3 weeks. Never had one fall off to the point where I noticed it. Mid Feb cans should be awesome right now.

I actually prefer my TH cans with about 1-2 weeks on them.
