No one has ever said Trillium never has lines, quite the opposite, collabs & other one offs, other rarer releases are well known to have lines outside the normal. Holidays can also cause lines. The other 200 days a year, you can walk in and buy more beer than you can drink in a reasonable timeframe.

I work about 10 minutes from Tree House and I find myself going less and less often. I love their beer, but it's so much easier to pop into my local bottle shop and pick up whatever Finback, Single Cut, Night Shift, Foley Brothers, Fort Hill, etc, etc, they have on the shelves. Maybe it's not quite as good (maybe it is) but it's a hell of a lot easier and that makes up for any possible drop-off. My tolerance for waiting in line has gone down drastically with the availability of so much good beer everywhere.

And this is the point I'm trying to make...it's not necessarily a good thing to have everything that you want. It's why kids are called "spoiled". Whether you want to admit it or not, scarcity helps you gain a greater appreciation for what you have.

Lol tree house will still be scarce and local relatively speaking. The accessibility doesn't change how good the beer tastes.

EDIT: I meant to say "coming in to Tree House from the south / west" during the Brimfield Fair.

I've only been to Tree House once; on a Saturday morning in late October 2014. I'm off this week and I'm looking to drive down there on my birthday Wednesday. The plan is to get in and get out with cans when they open at 12:00 and stop at a bunch of places (B.T.'s Smokehouse, Wormtown, Medusa, Exhibit A, Trillium, Night Shift) on the way back home. I was wondering what it's like when they open on Wednesdays and how soon I should show up before 12:00. I saw the mention of the Brimfield Fair on the first page of this thread so I will make sure I go out around that on the way in and the way out.

Wednesdays have been a bit crazy of late, but since it's can only the lines move quickly. You should be able to get there any time around noon and expect maybe a half hour to 40 minute wait in line. If you want to be near the front of the line for whatever reason, you'll need to get there about 10... they'll likely open early, but you're looking at getting there an hour before they open doors to get a short line wait vs. showing up once they're open for a half-hour wait.

IMO, the only reason to get to TH early enough to be at the front of the lines is if you're getting growlers or if the day before's beer has a few cases left.

Love BTs, great BBQ and spot to drink a beer after a stop at Tree House. If you're going to Wormtown though, it might be worth stopping at Armsby Abbey. The food there is amazing and their tap list is usually pretty loaded, at least 3-5 Hill Farmstead options at all times.

Agreed, it was a nice surprise having to stuff 2 extra beers in my pocket and a half case in my hands. A first for me at TH.

While I'm sure your Weds will be packed, if you're looking for another brewery to stop at Cold Harbor in Westborough is pretty much just off rt9 and is making very good beer.

So I will be making only my 2nd trip this Friday and am concerned about this festival affecting my trip since I am not familiar with the area.

    It looks like I will be taking CT-32 N/River Rd -> Main St -> Monson Rd -> MA-32 N -> Wales Rd -> Munn Rd -> E Hill Rd

Can someone tell me if I will be affected? Thanks in advance for assisting a noob.

I am anticipating hitting the area around 3:30-4:30 if that helps.

no the festival is on Route 20 between Monson and Sturbridge. The festival will affect people coming and going to/from Sturbridge.

So if I plan on heading to Canton afterwards, then I may be screwed?

I have driven through that before and have not found it to be that awful. Maybe I was lucky. I plan on going to Canton first. Is it worth me going farther south to try to go around it on the way to Tree House?

Also they updated the on tap page with a canning schedule but named no can. That isn't usually done right?

Meh, they usually wait until they have a good idea of the yield before they post.

No, you could just go somewhat backwards towards Palmer and get on I-90 there instead of going towards Sturbridge. Maybe 5 mins out of the way but little to no traffic on the way to 90.

Last time I drove back to Boston from Tree House during this fair, there was basically non-stop traffic on 20 from Yankee Spirits in Sturbridge (close to the Pike) all the way through to Brimfield. This is not just slightly busy roads we're talking about here.
