Changing the subject slightly - Did anyone run the 5K yesterday? I ran first two years but missed tickets this year. I am wondering what the set-up is like in Monson now. Does it look like they've changed anything?

People don't do that though. Weds and thursdays have been so mellow recently that they've been doing pours. The problem is everyone knows the heat has been coming on fridays, so they don't go weds and thurs and everyone and their grandmules shows up Friday

Just when everyone thinks Wed and Thurs are going to be the quiet days, is when TH will announce 4 beers available for this Wednesday with a two case limit. Just 'cause.

The beer is fine. Probably fine even if it's been rolling around in his trunk for two years. TWSS is surprisingly robust and I've had year-old cans that I thought were even better than fresh. Less metallic and more chocolately. The notion that any beer becomes undrinkable after a year or two is ridiculous.

Also, if you post a pic of the can, we can try to narrow down the timeframe. TWSS labels have changed several times with no one label lasting longer than a few months including design changes and also differences in glossiness, etc. Would anybody be able to tell you at what point in time your label is from? Dunno, but maybe. I have a bunch of empties I could rifle through if you absolutely had to know the date +/- a couple months.

Wow, I just had the same exactly experience with a can of TWSS as well. :beers:

And I agree, for such a low ABV beer, it's pretty deep and intense of flavor.

Interesting. I would have thought that it would be good for another few years at least with that abv and beer style. Interested to drink it now and see... To be honest I don't love Dark Lord or that intense of a stout so that's why I haven't gotten to it.

They wanted as much beer as possible to take back home, so I gave them 2 cans of Bright per 1 can of Sssappp I received...plus they jumped at the offer. Trust me, if they weren't up for it, I wouldn't have pushed the issue.
Though I will say, when we got outside and swapped the cans, one of the parking lots attendants (not sure his name, but not one of them I've seen much before) made a stink about us trading on property. I explained that they were from a few hours away and it would be real quick, and he kinda pressed the issue. At that point, I just shook my head in disbelief and told the guy I was trading with to just take out the cans of Bright out of my case and toss in the cans of Sssappp. I hate to be that guy, but it's not like I brought in a cooler of outside beer and was posted up for all to see, I wasn't selling it for a markup, I was just making a quick can swap on the way back to our cars after standing in line for 2+ hours. Kinda rubbed me the wrong way...

I forgot about a can in the back of the fridge for a little over a year; found it when we were getting ready to move and thought it was delicious.

Amazing how some people have zero concept of courtesy or common decency. Not once did the thought "I'm literally creating toxic smoke and blowing it in someone else's face" go through their head. If it did, they wouldn't light up. I dunno, something about this just rubs me the wrong way. I can't understand the thought process. How self-centered and oblivious do you have to be?

Yes, so smoke isn't sucked up into the air system and thus spread throughout the building.

...because smoke travels when you're outside. This is also why courteous people walk 20 feet away from others to smoke. Maybe if we lived in a world where wind only blows constantly from the ground straight up into the sky would smoking next to somebody outside be okay.

As others have said already. It seems like they need to move to a pre built 4 pack system and then people can just take whatever number of 4 packs they want. If you want less than 4 of a beer then tough... Now that the limits are as high as they've gotten, and the majority of people aren't maxing out, the idea of building a totally custom combo for each customer is nuts. There are just too many people..

The reason that the line used to crank like it did in Monson was virtually everyone got a full allotment. The exchange was basically "high ill take a full allotment, hand over credit card, pick up beer, walk away" it probably took less than 20 seconds. With the new limits their normal cashier system will continue to take way longer. Again, considering the demand, there isn't an easy answer. Will be interesting to see how they start to approach it going forward, 2 hour Friday wait is something they'll need to work on fixing..

Something to put it into perspective is that SSSappp was a typical Monson double batch, roughly 550 cases. Same limit too at 6pp.

What's interesting is that a 6pp 550 case batch would sell out on a Monson Wednesday within 4 hours. Yet TH was selling beer for 7-8 hours (+2 regular open hours + 1-2 hours to take care of the line after closing) and didn't even sell out of SSSappp.

This doesn't seem right. Did TH only serve half the customers on Friday as a typical Monson Wednesday? I can't imagine too many people didn't max out SSSappp. But the wait time in line was consistently 3x as long?

Can we just agree that if there's a super limited, or never yet released beer that drops on a Friday afternoon, that the line is going to take a little bit longer to get through, and we should expect as much? I understand most of these posts are constructive criticism, but if you knowingly get in line after reading on Twitter that the wait is 90-120 minutes, and you still bitch about it....I don't know, piss off?

That's certainly one way to do it. I stopped twice last week (Wed/Thu) and probably waited a total of 45 minutes between the two days. To me, it's worth it. To others, not so much. C'est la vie.

If you enjoy going to treehouse and waiting in line for their beers that is great. If you do not like waiting in line to get their beers and do not go, that is fine too.
Personally, I have not been in well over two years, but I have been gifted beers on a few occasions since. I am drinking and Old Man right now and its one of my favorite beers by them. SMooth, complex, and drinkable at the same time.
I would likely go once every few months if I did not have kids. I have a hard time finding the time right now. I look forward to seeing the new facility.

I've had the same experience. Trading that day's Tree House cans for different of that day's Tree House cans and got basically yelled at. I understand that there is pressure on their parking situation (because they did not create enough spots) but as a customer it is very off-putting. It comes across very much like "we've got your money, now leave". Not saying that's the intent, but that's how it's received.

I ran it yesterday. First time doing it so I don't know a ton about past years but it was a great day. Well organized and got to meet Tree House Dean as he walked around.

They had lines inside and outside for the first pour after the race. Outdoor line was Green, Bear, Bright w/Citra, and Eureaka. Indoor line was Alter Ego, Doppelganger, Bright w/Citra, and Old Man.

I got Green as I've never tried it before and the girlfriend did the same. Was disappointed that by the time I went back for my second pour they had already run out Green, Doppel, and Alter. Not a huge deal and it forced me to try something new. Would definitely do it again next year if I get the chance.

I appreciate all those who responded to my Treehouse quest inquiry about coming from CA. Meant to ask...how do you guys find out when theres a silent release. Is there any actual way to find out that there's been a silent release beer or special glass release that day (via twitter? Facebook? Double shot never showed up on their tap list on their website?). I never saw anywhere listing that DoubleShot was available (on the day/days it was available) except for people mentioning they got it or posting pictures. thanks

Sounds like BT's Smokehouse is the place to enjoy/bring your own tasty beverages. That'll be my backup plan

Yes, the wife supports and even enjoys my beer problem...I mean hobby. Looking like Thurs is a more safe bet and sounds like BT's is the place to go.

So what I'm hearing is DO GO FRIDAY!!! Yea, sounds like Thurs 4:00-5:00ish is the way to go although I do fear they're gonna drop some really nice silent release bottle or can on Friday and I'll miss it. I'd probably miss my wife more after she leaves me because we waited in line for 2.5 hours for cans on a crazy Friday though.

There's a facebook group called Tree House Line Updates, a private group intended to update people on line length and wait times...someone will always inquire or post if there is a silent that day, same for that day's glasses.
